So apparently season 4 is supposed to start filming later this year with a possible 2020 release date

I read as well that they may go to a S5, but I think ST should go out like Seinfeld- while still on top. Wrap it up with an equally good S4 and be done with it.

The kids are growing up. That's the death knell of any show that revolves around (young)kids.

How about the entire mayor-Hopper scene?

Pic of Ronald Reagan on the wall before he goes into the office.

Just a coincidence the mayor has the same color and hairstyle as Trump, right?

And hes portrayed as an a-hole? NOT A COINCIDENCE.

And he has shady ties to Russia?

Mayor Kline's sign just happens to look a lot like Trump's sign?

This is a sad post.

5 could be good depending what on what plays out in 4. No way I can see them going beyond 5 though. Maybe a few years from now have a new series where they’re becoming adults in the 90s. Hello 90s nostalgia in 2030.

Finished S3, and on page 12 of the thread. Man, alot of picking nits going on, lol...I enjoyed it well enough, looking forward to S4.

Personally, I get why Hopper reacted the way he did with Mike/El. Mike was disrespecting him to his face, and in front of El too. Mike's fortunate Hopper got him out of the house by fibbing about his Nana, as opposed to him getting tossed out by the ear. Also, El needs all the proper influence she can get, so Mike being a douche to an authority figure is not the greatest lesson for her to be learning.

Personally, I enjoyed the smart-assery between Hopper and Joyce. Maybe it's because I know a few people like that, lol...

I loved the Neverending Story bit, even tho it may have inadvertently cost Hopper his life, lol... it kinda reminded me of classic Simpsons thrown into the middle of high tension to take some of the edge off.

As far as "The American"? TBH, I don't even think the Duffer Brothers knew for sure who it was at the time of filming, and they left it ambiguous until they got contracts & real-life shite sorted out first...

I’m sure I will be in the minority but I didn’t think it was a great season. It certainly had some great moments and overall remains a very well done show, I just don’t think the overall story is all that great. Aside from the monster that seems to be getting more powerful and present in this dimension yet no more effective (I can suspend belief on that one and just accept it as the terror in the show), I didn’t like the whole billion dollar underground Russian complex in the middle of the US with no explanation or motive or anything. Hard for me to explain but the storyline is just shallow.

I also didn’t realize Steve’s lesbian gf was Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawkes kid. Makes total sense now because that is exactly who she looks like.

I like the show and am not the type to get caught up in details, just think they could have made the story itself a bit more interesting. They didn’t really try to wrap it up this season.

Lastly, the kids are getting older and I hope they weave that into the next storyline well. I think that they can, I just would hate to see this show go one season too long.

one more attaboy for the show, I got a good chuckle out of the New Coke/Old Coke bit in the final episode. I remember that happening and everyone losing their minds over Coke changing. One more "oh man" moment in the series.

The explanation and motive was they are trying to tap into a power they don't understand. It's just part of the Cold War arms race.

The US was delving into PsyOps when they created 11, the Russians are trying to do similar things.

I guess motive is the wrong word. I’m trying to avoid using the word unrealistic, but the Americans were operating in some shoddy building and the Russians built a state of the art facility, underground, in the same town without anyone noticing.

The story just isn’t that great and the monster thing is just getting cyclical. There just isn’t much of a payoff. But again, still a very fun show and very well done

It's possible they used the gateways to the upside down to move stuff undetected. Also the mall was a giant front for the underground lab which only the mayor knew the Russians had anything to do with the mall

I could def see a Christmas Theme

Thanksgiving/beginning of Christmas was kind of the first season wasn’t it? I remember there being snow. I don’t think it will be Halloween again or summer but I do think they like having fall/summer/winter themes. If they’re filming soon then I can see them starting in October going through December

OMG, it's a subtle homage to Stephen King's "Different Seasons!" The Duffer Brothers are geniuses!!!

Just finished. My only complaint about this season is the shoehorned Hopper letter speech at the end. That moment really took me out of the episode and it’s a shame because they had me emotionally invested before it. It’s not a big deal. I very much enjoyed the ride this season, and since the series doesn’t appear to be over, it thankfully will not be the last thing I see of the show.

I don’t need a season 4. I personally wish they would have ended the series almost exactly this way with Hopper intentionally leaving a note for 11 with someone or somewhere on the off chance he bites it early. He is a cop after all in a town already known for extremely shady shite.

Poor Steve man. Finally ends up getting over Nancy and finds a chick that appears to be a great fit only to find out she’s gay What a fun character.

On a completely unrelated note: what a lineup for Netflix this summer...OA, Dark, Stranger Things already aired and Mindhunter is less than a month away.

Hopper's letter took you out of an emotional moment? Are you a cyborg? I was in damn near tears during that ending with Hopper's voice reading the letter thinking he was dead. Very emotional.

I liked S3 a lot more than S2. Forget the political angle the bathroom scene with Steve and Robin was dumb. She clearly pushed him to admit he liked her for no reason and more importantly in 1985 she wouldn't have come out. Somehow Billy became my favorite character and then he dies so that sucks. If Hopper was a better fighter then Billy would still be alive since he would've been able to help with the keys. Loved the Terminator guy and bald eagle was awesome.

You don't know what a melt is, do you? You're just using a word that you've seen before.
