Great season.

Hoppers letter hit me in the feels big time. Love that man. I hope he's the American.

The singing scene was hilarious.

Felt like there were a lot more cheesey comedy moments, but that was how it was supposed to be. Like others said, I felt like the writers made this season a cheesey action 80s flick on purpose.

Bald Eagle and Alexi really stole the show for me. You knew Alexi wouldnt make it but you wanted him to survive somehow.

I thought Erica was fine. Over the top at times but that was her character.

Again, like others said, give our man Steve a win. Dude has come a long way since season 1. I thought the whole lesbian scene was kind of crap just because it screwed Steve again.

Observations from the thread:

- Some of you must be really miserable to nit pick some of those complaints
- Had no idea what was baby Uma Thurman but it all makes sense now

Who was the guy working the movie rental store at the end? He looked familiar but I couldn't place him

He was the guy that worked at the arcade in season 2.

Not only commercials, but he was the kid running the hamster ball ride in the first "Jurassic World," which is the first place I think I remember seeing him. He's got a way longer filmography list on IMDb than I would have thought, to be honest.

Finished last night. I thought it was a fantastic season and superior to S2.

A few tidbits:

Robin and Steve on drugs was the best.
Did not expect Robin coming out to Steve.
My boy Steve needs some love
Alexei was a good addition too. RIP Smirnoff
They used Max way better this season.
Billy killed it this season acting wise
More Murray/Bald Eagle
Will destroying the castle hit me hard
Hooper monologue at the end fricked me up
The guy in the cell is for sure Brenner or Hopper

I don't really think it screwed Steve. It's clear that they are still close friends three months later. Honestly, she's a better fit for him than Nancy.

They did kind of soft retcon the Mindflayer. Season 2 it was near omnipresent was following El from the upside down.

Season 3 it doesn't know where she is and the stinger revealed a nonFlayed Demigorgon. So it doesn't control the whole Upside Down.

I'm not sure that is a retcon. The Gate was fully open in Season 2 with the Upside Down tunnels throughout the town area. The Full Flayer was more connected to the real world then. Season 3 is just a sliver of the Flayer in the real world making an army while the Full Flayer is still behind the nearly opened gate.

Are we sure that all adult Demogorgon's are flayed? Are we sure that there is only one Flayer? Do we know how the Demogorgon's are able to step sideways (to borrow a term from a tabletop game other than D&D) out of the Upside Down into "our" world away from/without using the Gate?

The Mike and 11 love story for the first two episodes was extremely annoying. I mean him and Lucas were HORRIBLE friends to Will. He's been through 10x more than any of yall and he just gets put on the back burner.

But super realistic. I know Making out was the all I gave 2 shits about when I was that age and had my first GF.

And it's really no surprise, and not hard to believe, that 14-15 year olds would be selfish and oblivious to another person's feelings.

I didn't have an issue with it. As others have said when he's that age and is making out then that's all he's worried about or thinking about.

My issue was how all of a sudden he was this shite head who didn't respect hopper at all. Sneaking the make out is one thing but being disrespectful to an adult was out of character.

Going through puberty can turn kids into dickheads

Not to mention, pretty relaxed supervision at home. Mr.Wheeler was either with Holly or sleeping the majority of this season. Mrs Wheeler was conflicted about her feelings for Billy.

It’s one thing if its any adult but another when that adult happens to be your small town’s police chief.

He wasn't being a dick to the police chief. He was being a dick to the dad that was preventing him from making out with his love.

It didnt really bother me but it typically is a kid being a dickhead to his own parents trying to put restrictions on him not someone else dad and the police chief. You dont see many of those screaming matches.

Don't forget Hooper kept her hidden throughout season 2 so Mike is probably still holding some resentment.

It's looking at El from the Upside Down after the portal is closed in season 2.

Owens scene with Hopper and Murray's scene with the base closing both happen before.

As far as the show shows.

The first one came through because El pierced the fabric between.

Then the Mindflayer tried to both widen and move the portal.

The rumor as I understand is the Duffer's have a 30ish page Bible on the upside down but are willing to change it for the story. So the lore is moldable.

Right?

I grew up reading the Necroscope series. Vampire Cthulhu meets cold war ESPionage with two interconnected worlds. So dead isn't dead is something I always expect.

I hope this is true. I could nerd out on this type of information for hours.

And that final scene couldn't have been for cinematic reasons to show that the Flayer has not been defeated and still has it's attention on Hawkins rather than actually tracking El?

Still doesn't change the fact that the thing that corrupted Billy and built a body was merely a sliver of the Flayer leftover in the regular world, and not the full Flayer.

Season 1 didn't show the Demogorgon as being part of a hive mind.

quote:

Right...and it stepped in and out all over town, leaving temporary holes through which people could climb, without using the Gate. Not merely peering sideways like infected Will and Billy did, but physically going from one side to the other.

The Demodogs weren't shown to have that ability, with the gate open. And neither did the Flayer Golem with the Gate closed/being opened by the Russians. Only the humanoid, presumed-adult Demogorgon did that.
