To be honest this is the first Apple TV show that is below standard for them. I was worried about Wilson in this role, and I was right. I will still watch but may catch up after a few more drop.

I'm sticking for now but adding the feminist they/them is testing me. Almost dropped hacks because that feminist chick drove me nuts but glad i stayed for that one.

Im in the same boat right now. I'll watch it but there isn't to really pay attention to right now either. If they cancelled it tomorrow and didn't even finish the season, I wouldn't be mad.

The best way to make this show interesting again is to have Pryce totally fail at coaching Santi… with Santi continuing to be a prick to him…
And then Pryce returns to the game and competes against Santi at the pro level. That would bring actual conflict to the show that you can work for more meaningful themes and believe it or not… better humor.

Me neither although this last episode, 5, they seemed to tone Zero and her pronoun shite down. Santi is still a dbag though so there’s that. Mitts and to a lesser degree Pryce are the only redeemable characters that keep me watching.

Yeah and Im definitely in for that arc! although the ending of episode 5 everyone seemed to be getting along so I think it will be the finale when Santi finds out Zero got paid to caddy that shite hits the fan and sets up the rivalry for S2

I’m midway through episode 4 and I’m pretty sick of Zero and Santi’s bullshite, and was curious if I was wrong. Seems I am not.
I mean Santi is so unlikable and douchey. Your mom got $100k and you’re just gonna hangout with “she/they” and never practice or anything. Like cmon

Watched the first three episodes. Maron is the only decent thing about this show. The person playing Zero is so bad. I had to stop watching.

Hacks actually has some funny moments. This show has zero laughs.

Hacks is lightyears above this as far as comedy and writing. Hacks is also able to pull it off and make you like both characters because they offset each others bad qualities. Yes, Ava's character is bi and has typical feminist gen z traits that make you roll your eyes but you don't have to because the other star of the show is going to roll her eyes and tell her to shut up for you. Hannah Einbender is also a fantastic actress and pretty good stand up comedian.
It doesn't work in Stick because they are 2 episodes in with this character and they have already made more pronoun jokes than Hacks has in three seasons. And they don't do anything to counteract the annoying, they just created another character to back up her annoying in Santi. And it makes it even worse because she's not a great actress or a comedian so her jokes come off flat.
I'm giving it one more episode to get better and it's pretty much only because I like golf, not the show. This is the first Apple+ show I can ever remember watching with just straight up bad writing.

Maybe I'm wrong, but why is everybody so hung up on this show not being funny? Is it supposed to really be a comedy? I view it as more of a drama with some comedic elements. I've chuckled a little here and there, but I'm not really watching it for laughs.

Umm, yea? It's starring Owen Wilson, has (bad) jokes throughout every episode, the listed genres on IMDb are Comedy and Sport and Apple+ advertises it as their new "golf comedy."
Personally, haven't viewed it as a drama at all. Or there has at least been nothing I've seen that has given me any dramatic elements other than Stick losing his child. But that is fairly typical for Apple, trying to add some heart to the story.

Fair enough. I do find it relatively funny though. Maybe not laugh-out-loud-haha funny, but I chuckle throughout usually. Most of what Marc Maron says gets me to smile.
My biggest gripe is that they made Santi too much of an a-hole. If he's the main one we're supposed to be cheering on, he has to be at least sort of likeable. And so far he is the complete opposite of that. So I end up hoping he loses or Pryce gives up on him and walks away.
The kid playing Santi is also a pretty shitty actor, which plays into it as well for me.
