Do what?

Steven S. Knight’s big return to the “Spartacus” Universe with Spartacus: House of Ashur will not go beyond its freshman season at Starz, which has canceled the gladiator drama. Lionsgate Television, which produces the series, is shopping it to other platforms, sources tell Deadline.

The makeup of the follow-up’s audience did not quite align with Starz’s focus on women and underrepresented audiences, sources said.

The sword-and-sandal genre is inherently male-skewing and popular with white viewers. Still, like its predecessor, House of Ashur features a diverse cast with storylines that feature prominently women and characters of underrepresented backgrounds. Examples include powerful Black gladiatrix Achillia, played by Tenika Davis, as well as multiple spotlights of LGBTQIA+ characters.

While I don't agree with their reasoning but I didn't like the Ashur character in the original so there was no desire to watch this. Given the big name women that have been in Spartacus through the year it makes no sense.

The people who make these kinds of derivative projects are full retard. The fact that show had any viewers whatsoever is the funniest part.

Although maybe it would be usable for a drinking game or something in lieu of either good action or good nudity

Probably immense pressure and threats from the same people who told you that you were "over reacting" when it came to the Helen of Troy casting.

I was one of the white guys that watched this. You’re welcome for helping to get it canceled. Whoever thought bringing Ashur back was a good idea should never work in show business again. Even the lady gladiator wasn’t as stupid as resurrecting the most hated character in the original series and making him the lead. It wasn’t as girl-boss as it seemed in the trailers because she kept getting her arse kicked and spent half the season near death.

There was a funny set of midget gladiators that were the only entertaining part of the show.

It's like a barbeque restaurant notices they don't get a lot of vegan customers, so they replace their whole menu with vegan stuff and then are surprised when the restaurant is completely empty.
