Also she's in a one person band class where she plays the Theramin even though a a hologram she shouldn't be able to.

I haven’t watched a second of this shite show but is she like the holodeck holograms from TNG? Didn’t they have mass? Ryker had sex with one didn’t he? Or is this a hologram just walking around in normal areas? If so then yes that is retarded.

From what I have seen from clips, she has mass when the plot wants her to and doesn’t at other times.

Phasers pass right through her, but she is afraid of being hit.

She can touch people and objects.

She releases air when she exhales underwater.

Her entire concept makes no sense, even in the Star Trek universe.

It's a living sentient hologram from a planet of sentient holograms. She was created to study "solid life forms".

That makes no sense.

Do the sentient holograms have ships? How do they travel?

Why would holograms need a physical planet?

What is “projecting” them? If they aren’t being projected, they aren’t holograms.

Nanite swarms with localized intelligence would make infinitely more sense.

Then you could have the concept of reproduction, movement, etc.

The concept is what I would expect a 5 year old to come up with.

It is retarded.

I agree of all the sentient possible life I don't get holograms. Though The Doctor is still around and can go anywhere and do almost anything

Budgeted for $20 mil an episode. Hollywood is nothing but a giant money wash.

I think ill use my GI bill and learn CGI so i can bill people tens of thousands for mininal work

The thing is, like Star Wars I really like Star Trek and want it to remain relevant and have new shows and such.
Though I would prefer the show Scott Bakula pitched than this. I'm way more interested in the first Starfleet class than this 1000 year in the future stuff. Though even still it could have been epic but instead we have hack writing. I want it to be canceled but I want Star Trek on TV.
I'm worried if no one watches they will give up on the IP. Though also if it does well this is the future. I guess we will always have what we had. But there is so much more story to tell. Like SW there are possible great stories in universe. They are just being handled by people who don't really care for the lore.

Wait, you're saying that your introduction to the Star Trek universe is "Starfleet Academy"?

I'm not that interested to watch, but I am curious why does the Academy have a ship? Is that just a captains chair in a simulator or does the faculty actually have a ship?

That's pretty standard. SUNY Maritime College has a ship.

Yes Star Trek has always been about inclusiveness and society getting beyond base human emotions of fear, bigotry, greed, and crime. But it has also been about intelligent and thoughtful writing with some reverence to the human pursuit of ideals and growth.

Strange New Worlds does this.

Best Trek going

I haven't watched the show, and I don't plan to. The only time it pops up on my radar is when I come across a clip like this, and holy shite. Is the dialogue like this for the entire show?

I'm going to be honest with you, even if it hadn't been "woke" I wasn't going to watch anything that was basically a teen drama set in the Star Trek universe.

I liked Star Trek when it was depicted as a military. It's hard to envision even the most lax military academy letting people get away with these things.

No, the Enterprise and other locations weren't full-on strict military protocol, but there was rank structure, duties and responsibilities, and a professional decorum that was only loosened when in private moments (that would be abandoned if the situation needed it to be).

There is such a thing as "too laid back" and every little bit I've seen from the show seems to just completely abandon the military conceit... at some point there won't even be ranks, just a bunch of people.

Hell man, even cruise ships have a rank structure because you freaking need one.

Sorry, you could have had the LEAST woke cast in the history of casting and it wouldn't have helped the premise. I feel like they're doing the "let's make it woke so that when people point out how objectively bad the show is we can claim it's because they're biased" thing.

Why is everybody fat It’s like this show forgot all the medical advancements from 1000 years ago. I’ve only seen the clips posted here of the show but damn the writing in every single one is so ridiculously vapid.
