Please and I mean this with the most respect. Do not say that unless it’s absolutely true. I know you didn’t mean it in the way that it reads but until that social justice warrior man hating C U Next Tuesday is gone please don’t give us false hope even for a second.

I didn’t dislike it. Just seemed like a chain restaurant. Bland safe and easy on the pallet for the masses.

After 3 weeks at #1, #StarWarsRiseofSkywalker drops to #2 with $15.1M & $478.2M cume. Fair #boxoffice comparisons for #StarWars films would be the 24-day total which runs past Christmas holidays. TROS is -41% vs #TheForceAwakens & -17% vs #TheLastJedi. Global now $989.6M.

Lots of people were predicting $1B by tomorrow. Might have to wait until next weekend

Last week I said it would hit 1B by the end of this weekend. 11M short. It will hit 1B by Wed or Thursday, but will not come close to 1.1B now, which I said was the lowest it would make 2 weeks ago.

I loved the film. 500+/1B+ is in no way a failure at the box office, but it is definitely the signs of missed opportunities for Disney.

None of the films since TFA were going to make TFA money, but damn did Disney miss out. It's a shame for Solo and TROS, too! Both were so much better than TLJ.

At this point, I would say the last 3 films could have made a combined 1.5B+ more in the global box office if TLJ and RJ hadn't happened.

Rian Johnson deserves a good bit of blame, but the lion’s share belongs to Kathleen Kennedy and her incompetence when it comes to storytelling.

I agree with you, but if she had simply allowed JJ to continue into the 2nd film--which I know was never the plan--I think things would have been extremely different. I like to think things would have been better!

The amount of money to promote, distribute and develop this kinda movie means it has to make close 1 billion to make any meaningful profits

Meaning, from an investors point of view, its breaking even

I doubt that they spent anywhere near 1B to do all of that, but I agree with your thoughts.

Don't forget that the movie theaters get a cut of the profits, too. Roughly 50%.

Movie theatres do not get 50% of the profits from the movies. Maybe 20% depending on how long it stays. I worked for a movie theatre for 5 years. Worked in management and worked with the corporate office in getting the prints to the theatre. Movies are rented from the studio company. Longer they stay the smaller the rent.

It still underperformed. However, the powers that be will probably get to keep their jobs.

While it did not bomb like his 850 million dollar total prediction, he was closer than most predicted. Absolute disappointment. It is hard to be mad as a shareholder because Disney has killed it this year.

I would love to know the break even point for this film, has to be at least in the 700-800 range. Not even taking into account the original investment.
