You do realize Disney is a business right?

And check the audience ratings.

Big deal. Christopher Nolan started that trend with his Dark Knight trilogy. It's nothing new and DC clearly does it better as we've seen from the accolades Joker is getting.

So is the Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes legit? I don’t believe 86%

A year after marvel earned 3 Oscars on 7 nominations, including a best picture nomination. Let's see if DC can have more than a single good movie in a row before we anoint DC "good" at anything.

So your theory is that Abrams destroyed Star Wars by creating by far the highest grossing movie in the Disney era which is by far the best of the Disney trilogy and the third, maybe second best SW movie since 1983?

And I could shoot 2 hours of monkeys throwing little balls of shite at each other, call it Star Wars, and gross over $1 bil.

Name 3 SW movies released after 1983 that are better than TFA.

Jedi, all three prequels, R1 and Solo.

Though all of those were crap, except Jedi, I'd still watch any of them again before I'd watch TFA. Saying it's a straight up copy of Star Wars is letting it off easy. TFA is full of stupidity that goes far beyond that.

Cuckeye and I definitely have common ground here, amazingly.

Dude, are you just arguing with Displaced Buckeye to argue?

DC having to basically scrap its plans for an extended universe. Constantly chasing the "seriousness" of Nolan's batman series, but hiring crap directors to fail at it. Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad Justice League are four of the worst major blockbusters released the past decade. Joker is the only good movie they've made since Wonder Woman, and it's not even good (Shazam is the actual only decent movie they've put out since Wonder Woman). And Joker has been acclaimed partly because of its seeming disconnect from comics (which is also stupid, the shoehorning in of the Wayne family stuff is laughable garbage in Joker). That sits in contrast with Black Panther, which was praised for adding variety and personality to the very comic book-y Marvel formula.

And I don't care if they're "fan hits." I don't want to defend the quality of Marvel movies here, but they are actually the most popular movies with several demographics in America right now, while being the factual most profitable. Kids and adults flock to see all of them. Each individual film is guaranteed $750 dollars at this point, with many going over a billion. DC has two billion dollar movies in its extended universe, though it's a good sign for them that it was two out their most recent three (I'm actually not sure Joker counts since no involved can give a straight answer on its EU status). But will people go see Birds of Prey because they liked Joker? I doubt that.
