Sith should be ranked. It had its moments. Sidious made the movie.

My one big issue is that I can't shake the feeling that the characters I loved from the original trilogy just basically sucked at life for the last thirty years. That bothers me alot and for me takes away from how ROTJ ends.

I think RotJ ended wrongly though. Luke should have walked off into the binary sunset as the final image and looked sadly as only having been able to save his father's soul until the very end. Han Solo should have been killed, and Leia should have led on the Rebels as a general. It shouldn't have been a fricking party at the end, it should have been closer to Lord of the Rings where Frodo sails onto the West. Abrams seems to have shared this opinion and put the characters where they should have been at the end of that movie. RotJ ends on far too much of a happy note. It should have ended somberly.

It isn't just the light saber fight. He lost a couple of force battles with Rey too.

Yeah I think Kylo ren will win one but does it make sense? She has 0 training and is already beating him. She should only get exponentially better.

Or was he? Obviously "Snoke", or Super Giant Gollum as I like to call him, has been around a while and something tells me he didn't just walk into being a Sith Lord.

Unless they threw away part of the mythos from the prequels, I remember Yoda saying in one of them that there can only be two Sith at a time? A master and an apprentice?

If so, then Snoke had to have come into his Sith powers *after* the death of Sideous and Vader.

Snoke

Is not a Sith.

Both he and Kylo make this clear. He tells Kylo to bring Rey to him, after Kylo tells him of her power.

Kylo, while knowing he needs more training himself, offers to teach her.

There is no rule of 2 at play here.

That Sith Rule of Two ended when Vader threw Sidious down that shaft, so it has no bearing on what Snoke does. And it's canon that Kylo Ren's saber is modeled after an ancient Sith design from the time of the Old Sith Empire.

Having Rey whip arse with the staff was supposed to validate her ability to use the light saber. They shouldn't have edited out the stunt double's arse kicking as much as they did.

Unless he's darth Plageus, who has already been referenced in a prequel so he's canon

He didn't believe in the rule of two

It's possible that he wasn't killed after all

We know exactly 2 things regarding his origins.

He is huge, and Serkis said he is ancient. I believe he inferred older than Yoda.

I really don't think he is a Sith.

Wookiepedia describes him as thin and frail - his hologram was just massive.

Thought Serkis also made a statement about him being huge, and it was hard to play because of that.

I actually understood that point, but her ability to just use the force and do almost everything like did in the third movie was a bit much. Even if she is "naturally gifted" how was she supposed to know she can do mind tricks?

Over all though I really liked the movie. I think Kylo Ren needs to step up his game though going forward.

The opening crawl asks the question, “Where is Luke Skywalker?” To not have the answer to that question until literally the last 30 seconds was poor story-telling in my opinion.

The answer came right away with Poe receiving the map. While I would like to have seen Luke have a larger role, I like that it was his shadow that drove the movie.

She is very naturally gifted.

It helped that he was playing a mind trick on her.

And her powers were heightened buy fear and anger. The easy way to the force.

Edit: it stays. Consider it an unintentional joke about how giving into the darkside buys you easy power.

My issue with that is how would Leia not know that's her daughter? I think its a bit of a stretch.
My issue with this is the way it's played out with Ren.

Ren's a horrible beast, he killed off the other Jedi trainees, he is actively attacking her Resistance, he was involved in blowing up the new Republic (a bigger genocide than Alderaan), and he has a big gun barrel pointed right at them. And she sends Han to "bring back their son", even after Han points out he won't be able to do it; go die trying then, my dear ex.

Rey is left alone on a planet until she moves on her own, she is taken to said base that they need to destroy for their own sake, and she's not very committal about rescuing her... do it, if you can also succeed in bringing down the shield.
Just nowhere near the level of concern, so I can't see it being her daughter. Really kind of hard to see even a niece in that reaction.

Considering Hamill's career over the last thirty years, I'd say hell be happy with whatever he gets.

You mean considering he's been one of the most successful voice actors since the early 90's?
While Hamill has been a business success, his co-star Harrison Ford (who was just a journeyman actor, cast at the last minute) became one of the biggest stars of all time. And Star Wars was really supposed to be Luke's story, so you'd say Hamill was the one positioned to have a huge career.

I'm sure they're all at piece with it now, but I have to believe there was some envy after the Indiana Jones thing took off too, and Hamill was still trying to get something else after Corvette Summer.
