My issue with that is how would Leia not know that's her daughter? I think its a bit of a stretch.
Yeah, it's a huge stretch. I think Leia knows who she is, but a mother who hasn't seen her daughter since she was 5 would not let her daughter go "embrace her destiny". She would have had Chewie go to Luke alone (with maybe Poe as the copilot) and bring Luke back to her. She would not have allowed Rey to live. Now if Luke is her father, then it makes sense for Leia to let Rey go confront her father and destiny. She behaved how an aunt would to her niece, not how a mother would.
Plus surely Han and Leia would have talked about it.

On that note, I wonder what Mark Hamil thought when first saw the script and saw that he had no lines.
Well, he's got second billing and will be head billing in Episode VIII, and the ending was epic as hell, so I'm sure he was fine with it.

Considering Hamill's career over the last thirty years, I'd say hell be happy with whatever he gets.

I know. Just funny to imagine them sitting down in that first table reading and have Hamil nervously flipping through the script going "Uh...where's my part?"
But I really hope we see him in action in the second movie instead of being some shadowy mentor.

There was a "leak" a few days ago detailing that Luke was in fact Rey's father, and that it was Kylo that stranded her on Jakku after he couldn't bring himself to kill her. He just wanted to keep her away from Luke, ensuring that she wouldn't become a threat to him or the First Order later down the line.
It also stated that Luke wasn't simply moping around in a depressed state, but was doing everything he could to drastically increase his power in an effort to go after Snoke. He was under the impression for years that Ben had killed Rey, but sensed some "awakening" in the Force just before she arrived on the island - hence his emotion at the end.

I liked this film alot. I loved the new characters, especially Rey. It felt so much like a star wars film so I was happy.
My one big issue is that I can't shake the feeling that the characters I loved from the original trilogy just basically sucked at life for the last thirty years. That bothers me alot and for me takes away from how ROTJ ends.

I could get on board if that is the story for it.

I'd buy that but Kylo and Rey don't seem to be that far apart in age

You mean his wildly successful voice acting career?

How have they sucked at life? Han is still a bad arse smuggler, Leia is basically in charge of the Resistance. Luke tried to restart the Jedi academy, even though he was never really trained to be a Jedi himself.

My only problem with this is Kylo. He is unstable as hell emotionally. The second he sees her memories, he would have reeled back in shock.
Unless, he had prepared himself for this. When he was told a girl helped them, he said "What girl?", which isnt necessarily a natural line there. Maybe he wasn't really in her memories, but was speaking from his own knowledge. I mean, she makes a big show of forcing him out of her head. So maybe he never really saw anything. I need to see that scene again, I need a refresh on everything he says.
That would also explain why she was left with the junk dealer, and not someone like Max Von Sydow's character.
After talking that out. I might buy it.
Wait, nm. Just remembered. He really was in her head. Because he tells her, "You see Han Solo as a father figure, he would disappoint you."
I'm out on that "leak."
Then again, a line Snoke says implies he has let someone live once before.
Maybe he let's her live, but leaves her there. Luke wiped her memories to spare her the trauma of what happened.

I think they are somewhere between 7 and 10 years apart. He is late 20s, and she is around 17-19.

You mean considering he's been one of the most successful voice actors since the early 90's?

If they are siblings I think Kylo remembers Rey but Rey doesn't remember Kylo due to Kylo being older

The last time he trained someone.
She is begging him to take the lightsaber which would mean to get back into it, and I think he feels too guilty of the last time he trained a bunch of Jewish and Kylo turned on him.
You see him getting teary eyed when she holds it out, not before.

Just saw it a second time. I loved it even more than the first time. There is no doubt Rey is Luke's daughter for the following reasons:
1. Only three characters in the entire saga have been referred to as being strong in the force or the force being strong with them: Anakin, Luke, and now Rey
2. Mas, the bar owner, said the lightsaber was owned by Luke and by His father before him, and now it calls to Rey. That's pretty damn clear.
3. Leia knows that is her niece and gives her warm, aunt-like embrace. That wasn't a mom seeing her daughter for the first time in 15 years (per the book, Rey is 20).
4. Luke tears up when he sees her. He knows it's his daughter.
And how can we all forget the trailer that quoted Return of the Jedi when Luke told Leia the force was strong in their family? That is the sealer for me.

I hate referencing trailers as if they are the movies but that makes a lot of sense.
