In a tweet, director J.J. Abrams confirmed that initial photography on the as-yet-untitled Star Wars: Episode IX has finished, with a shot of three of the main cast of the new trilogy of movies.

Separately, Lucasfilm announced Triple Force Friday, an Oct. 4 launch for merchandise not only for Episode IX, but also the Disney+ streaming series The Mandalorian, and also the EA/Respawn video game Star Wars: Jedi — Fallen Order, launching at the end of 2019. The placement of both show and game on par with Episode IX arguably displays Disney and Lucasfilm’s priorities in terms of what Star Wars will be in future, and what platforms will be prioritized.

According to Lucasfilm, products “spanning categories from toys to collectibles, housewares, books, apparel, and more” will be released in support of the three projects across the world on that day, with more details to be revealed in months to come.

All three of those characters are incredibly shallow and lack all of the charisma and intrigue that Luke, Han, and Leia possessed.

Does anyone honestly care about Po? Finn? Or even Rey?

It's not the fault of the actors, but the writing. This trilogy has been just an absolute mess.

I'm still very invested in Rey.

Couldn't give a shite about Finn.

Never considered Poe a main character.

Me either. Yet I enjoy him more than Rey and Finn

Totally agree. VII was essentially a cheap knock off of episode IV.

VIII was an absolute disaster that made the phantom menace look Oscar Worthy.

Based on just that picture above, I can safely say I will not watch episode 9.

Why? She's the definition of a Mary Sue. Massively overpowered. Everybody instantly loves her. Never fails at anything. Zero attempt at a backstory to explain how can she do what she does. Oh, wait. It's because 'the force is female.'

I’m here with it as well. Love Daisy, her character isn’t very good, but JJ cam still redeem it some. Hoping she loses a hand early in the film to keep with her paternal bloodline. If they stay with drunkard shite I’m just going to pretend 8 and 9 never happened.

Drunks were her foster parents when she was ditched on Jaaku. Pretty obvious.

I never thought Luke or Leia had charisma or intrigue. I never pulled for Luke. I wanted Han to kill him, nail Leia, then leave her. He was the only one with charisma and intrigue. The (spoiler alert) twins, originally seemed like poorly developed cannon fodder personalities to me. I ended up hating both by the time Return of the Jedi finished.

If Rey contracts gonorrhea from Chewbacca in the first scene of Episode 9, I’m back in. The writers could use her struggles with abnormal vaginal discharge as a vehicle to finally test and grow her character.

I’m not sure there’s anything they can do to get me back on board the sequels. I’ve enjoyed the other new films though and am still holding out for an Old Republic film.

So is Hermione Granger, but people still enjoy Harry Potter.

I like the chemistry between Rey and Kylo. Their scenes together were the only redeemable part of TLJ.

I refuse to give up my fantasy that Luke is Rey's father until the credits are over.

So maybe it's pure delusion.

Wat.

Hermione was heavily bullied and ostracized for being a total goodie goodie nerd. She was also born to muggles (funny how giving a good backstory can add depth to a character) making her the target of derision of pure blood wizards and potential threats from followers of Voldemort.

Further, she was composed by Rowling to be a bushy haired nerd girl that blossomed into beauty late in the series. No one expected Watson to turn out the way she did.

Not a reason to not like it or enjoy it.

I’m kinda with you. Luke was only interesting at all bc of the Force, not bc of his personality. What made Star Wars magical was Han, Vader, the mysterious Jedi powers, light sabers, and the cutting edge special effects.
