Colin Trevorrow is directing the movie, which is eyeing a January 2018 start date

Jack Thorne, the British scribe who wrote the upcoming Julia Roberts-Jacob Tremblay movie Wonder, has been tapped to work on the Star Wars installment that is to be directed by Colin Trevorrow.

Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly, have been working on the script, but sources say a fresh set of eyes was needed. It is unclear how extensive the rewrites will be.

I'm still surprised they went with Trevorrow. I feel good about Ep 8 with Johnson, but this one has me concerned.

This is pretty typical this early in production for a franchise.

The should bring in GRRM, I don't think he's writing anything at present.

the script wouldnt be ready in time

then the producers would just have to make shite up based off the 50% of the script that he did finish

Same. I'm already convinced it's going to blow.

Especially since Carrie Fischer was a big part of Episode IX, I can understand doing a rewrite. This is absolutely nothing to be concerned about, unlike the Han Solo movie which seems to be a catastrophe so far behind the scenes. Hope they can rebound for that one.

that solves a big problem, but trevorrow is not only a sorry writer, but a sorry director as well.

I would like to see Spielberg do it provided George lucas is not involved in any capacity.

George Lucas was given a copy of the preliminary script and was over the moon about it. This obviously raised red flags and a search for a script doctor commenced immediately.

Since they showed him in a space coma in the trailer, I'm really hoping he gets Binxed.

TLJ had some minor rewrites AFTER the release of TFA based on how some elements of it were received (hopefully Finn gets Binxed). So the fact that there is rewriting going on this soon before the release of TLJ is nothing to be concerned about.

Didn't Rogue One have a ton of rewrites and reshoots during production?

Are they going to say Princess Leia died in a marching band accident?

Yeah but that was a few months prior to release

Which would seem to be more of a problem than doing rewrites pre-production. Rogue One came out ok I think.
