The Yoda scene didn't seem forced to you?

He should have been either dead or retired long before this new series even began.

He was retired but the First Order captured before being rescued by the resistance (some where in one of the new canon books). I kinda agree with you there but you have him in two movies now and you kill him off like that? I don't know, it just sits wrong with me given his character.

I checked out at Leia “Mary fricking Poppins” Organa’s flying scene. Unfortunately, I still had two more fricking hours to go.

That’s fair.

I didn’t like his inclusion in TFA. Would rather them make up a new character.

Also, how the hell did the First Order have so much money to be so dominant in secret while the Resistance is nothing but the remaining members on the Falcon?

My question is didn’t the First Order and the Resistance basically kill each other off? I don’t see how Kylo Ren is going to manage to get the resources when Starkiller Base and almost his entire armada has been destroyed, not to mention Snoke having a terrifying presence. In a galaxy of hundreds of trillions, I just don’t see where the First Order is a threat at all anymore.

Lol no that was what sparked Luke to get involved.

Really? Checked out? You weren't excited to learn that not only does Leia have force powers but that they seem pretty strong for her to be able to survive all of that?

Why does everyone who can use the Force have to be a blood relative of a Skywalker?

That’s not what i said. I said Star Wars is a Skywalker story. There are plenty of other interesting stories to be told. I enjoy Rebels and I loved Clone Wars. Ashoka Tano is a fantastic character. Rogue One was a great movie.

But the original Saga is about the Skywalkers. The prequels were admittedly bad. But at least they still felt like Star Wars.

The yoda scene completely changed how I was feeling about the movie. After Rey left and Luke was being a pussy, Yoda (the ultimate master of the force) showed up and made Luke became a non bitch.

There's still two characters with Skywalker blood running around. It's still very much a Skywalker story.

People complained about the The Force Awakens but outside of Death Star 3.0, I loved everything about it. It's so much better than this. Rian said the film was originally 3 hours. I can't imagine what filler he cut if he kept the casino arc. I did love Rey pissing off the island care-takers at least.

One of the few pluses is the space battles and I absolutely loved the design of the resistance's Mon Cal cruiser I just wished it survived.

I would really compare this movie to The 5th Element in terms of how bonkers it is

That Resistance ship was named the Raddus (the Admiral in Rogue One). BTW, Luke never gave Rey her third lesson. I was really hoping we got to see Rey and Kylo having training montages co-currently like Drago and Rocky.

No, because Leia’s force powers were revealed in 1983.

The First Order was simply the reunification of the Imperial Fleet. The Empire permitted all kinds of corrupt stuff (slavery, especially) to go down as long as they got a cut of the action. They bought in bulk, which kept the corporate class happy and well fed.

The Empire didn't disappear after ROTJ. The vast majority of the fleet was still out there. The vast majority of the Galaxy was still under the rule of Imperial governors. It simply became less centralized in those areas they still controlled while the republic established a loose control over a wide area, sorta like the Hellenic Empire after the death of Alexander. The Ptolomy's still ran Egypt, the Selucids ran Babylon, etc. However, the new republic was largely toothless and ineffective (see America under the Articles of Confederation). Even after the Republic struck an uneasy peace with the Imperial Remnants, there was always way on the fringes. The Republic didn't have a standing army.

As for the money, corruption pays. Slavery pays. Conscription pays. Extortion pays. Big military industrial contracts pay. The Republic's economy was never stable, meaning the financiers were never happy. The Empire brought stability for the money class.

Interesting too that the people clamoring for the Thrawn story are probably also complaining about Leia having powers when that is part of the Thrawn trilogy.

Lucas has to be loving the fact that he is no longer the most hated director in the series.

Still, it looks like both sides wiped out like 95% of the others forces. It’d be as if almost all of the Soviets and Nazi forces were wiped out in Stalingrad except for like 2,000 people, including the leaders. For the rest of the world, it’s turned into a “who cares”?

The guy made Attack of the Clones. That film is irredeemable. This had its moments.
