***Spoilers*** Something that bothered me regarding Infinity War ***Spoilers***

My issue is with the Hulk. Spoilers below:
So Thanos kicks his arse a little in the beginning of the film and he's scared to come out for the rest of the movie.
He took an absolute arse whipping from Thor in Ragnarok that was way more violent than what Thanos did to him, yet it didn't affect him one bit.
Did that bug anyone else?

It bothered me more that he came out of nowhere after the Asgardians had been slaughtered. Didn't really make sense. That or the fact that Hulk, Thor, Loki, and Heimdall put up less of a fight against Thanos and Co. than a bunch of humans on Titan did

I think those are different situations, there is more at play there than just fear. In Ragnarok Hulk tells Thor that earth isn't his home and the Avengers aren't his friends, but Banners. In the MCU, Hulk has evolved enough to see that he's only a tool for the Avengers. Hulk is no longer some pissed off mindless thing, but he now has his own interests separate from Banner (as seen by him not changing in the movie).

Actually, Hulk thinks he won versus Thor. Thanos was bigger and put an arse whooping on Hulk like he never seen.

Didn’t bother me. In situations like these I choose to believe that the loser always has a sense of the power they went up against. Maybe Hulk just felt a way more tremendous power coming from Thanos than he did from Thor.

It didn’t bother me, even though Hulk would’ve gotten pissed off and stronger and that battle should’ve raged for a looooooooong time. But they did it to show Thanos strength right off the bat to have Thor, Hulk, Loki, and Heimdall get their asses beat.
You knew what type of movie it was gonna be after that opening scene of death and destruction

Hulk won in Ragnarok. He even thinks he won fairly.

They fought the Black Order all at the same time, plus Thanos. Literally no one else in the movie had to do that.

Pretty good breakdown here. Hulk is looking out for himself. But he hasn’t gotten to the point where he knows he has to protect Banner to protect himself. I project he figures that out in the next movie and they work together to beat Thanos, and obviously the combined power of Banner’s intelligence and ingenuity and Hulk’s brute force would make them much more powerful

He morphs into the gray hulk

I think you got these totally reversed. Thor had some arse-whipping moments in that fight, but so did Hulk and Hulk Loki'd him and wailed the frick out of his face before Thor unlocked his super thunder power out of nowhere.
Thanos took a few shots to the face then proceeded to systematically kick his arse to the point that he KNOCKED HIM OUT COLD.
Who the frick has ever knocked Hulk out cold? He knocked him back into Banner!
I also agree with the points other posters have made that he no longer wants to be the Avengers' attack dog.

The only thing that bothers me is his power level. What has always intrigued me most about hulk has been the correlation between his anger and his strength. The angrier he got, the more powerful he became.
My only regret of the MCU is they never found a way to introduce or incorporate it. Wouldn't it have been great if Tony were secretly studying banner when they worked together and discovered the Hulks untapped potential. He then developed a drug that induces psychotic rage but could only be administered to banner in human form. He doesn't tell Bruce and keeps it on hand as a weapon of last resort.

I have trouble understanding how people do not understand what happened with Hulk in IW. Hulk is like a juiced up 12 year old. He got his arse whooped and now he is being selfish (like 12 year olds tend to be) because he is embarrassed and scared of Thanos.
The writers and directors did a great job with Banner/Hulk in this movie. It's not like they left him out of the movie due to a CGI budget or something like Game of Thrones. They are really just showing a side that no one has seen before. It started in Ultron with his affection for Black Widow, then got more complex in Ragnarok with his humor and what not. Now we are seeing that he has real emotions and fears and is not just some mindless "Hulk."
I enjoyed the Hulk story line in this one, and it is setting up for a big return in IW2.

How has no one mentioned yet, Thanos had the fricking Power Stone. It wasn't like he was just using his raw strength by itself.

Thanos hits harder than Thor

yeah that would be the more odd part about the scene.

Also, not really strange. Simple reasoning is that Bruce Banner was on the ship when Thanos came on. Banner is pretty unassuming so no one would have really even looked twice at him. Probably told him to go hide then become Hulk. Then he did...

yeah but he was Hulk at the end of Ragnarok when Thanos' ship showed up, that'd be an odd time for him to switch back to banner

to be fair we don't actually know what his motivation was for not coming out

Hulk won the fight between him and Thor.
Thanos straight up beat him.
Like others have said the Hulk persona took his ball and went home because he saw himself being used as a tool.
We also don't have the full story of how Hulk got into ambush position. But Banner may have reined him in on the spaceship. Which would've tempered him. My bet is he fought other invasion forces on another deck.

I don't think the stone was glowing during the scene.
