How do you mess up Spider Noir??
Oh, right. Amazon Prime.
never mind

I binge watched it one weekend and thought it was decent. Felt more like a detective novella rather than a Spider-Man spinoff. Maybe because Spider-Man in my mind should always be a younger hero, even though I did enjoy seeing older Toby in the Tom Holland Spider-man saga. Nick Cage was just too over the hills and didn’t feel like Spider-man imo.

It was on my list to check out, not sure if I'll bother now.

i don’t think they expected a 2nd season. it closed out pretty well

It was decent, but there were too many times when Nic Cage showed up.
Let me clarify, I don’t mean to say I didn’t like it because of Cage. There were too many scenes where his acting took me out of the show.

Show was great. Lame cancelation

I liked it. But I'm not disappointed.
Mostly because Amazon has a habit of ruining their shows in their second season

This board loved it from what I remember. Maybe liked it. Not loved it.

Cage just wasn't the right guy for this.

An incredibly niche idea that appeals neither to traditionalist superhero fans nor traditional crime/noir fans, that also requires a pinpoint tonal balance lest it become too goofy or too self-serious.
Yeah, I can't believe it didn't cohere perfectly or that it only appealed to a niche audience...

I was in that niche audience. I don't particularly care about comic movies anymore, but I like noir/period pieces + Nic Cage. I watched most of the season about a month ago (still have maybe 1 or 2 episodes left) and stopped. I didn't rage quit the show or anything like that. I intended to finish it, but probably never will. It was OK enough, I got distracted by something else for a few weeks, I can't remember what was happening, and I didn't like the show enough to invest in the time to re-engage.
It wasn't a shitshow, it was just forgettable. That's actually the worst case scenario for me. I know that "She-Hulk", "Ms Marvel", "Falcon and Winter Soldier", etc are going to be dogshit, so I simply don't invest any time in them. The 6-7 hours I spent on this series weren't unpleasant, but they were definitely "wasted".

I agree. It was also expensive, went through development and production hells, and featured an expensive star who would probably ask for more to do a second season. Forgettable doesn't justify a second season after the headaches of the first.

Show was great
I mean, this is a bit excessive. I just finished watching it today oddly enough. It was a poorly written series that had decent direction and great, fun acting by cage and Gleason. Overall a solid C+ show. It was too stupid with their forced plot points and poor writing to be great though.

It wraps everything up pretty well honestly, they were good to continue if they got more seasons, but if they didn't the first season didn't leave any real cliffhangers.
My wife and I thought it was a pretty solid show, it was fun.

I streamed it, but lost interest pretty quickly and it was just running in the background before I knew it.
