So what's the next big movie/TV cultural phenomenon that will be coming out?

We had two that just occurred in the past month with Avengers: Endgame and Game of Thrones. Episode 9 of Star Wars will be released around Christmas but I believe the anticipation of that movie has dampened quite a bit after Episode 8. Stranger Things seems to be very popular but I feel like it's sort of a niche show and not really a cultural phenomenon. Is there another Marvel movie coming out that's highly anticipated? I have a hard time thinking of one at the moment.

Going to be tough for another tv show to do it given the streaming services pushing binge viewing habits

TWD had a chance but they pissed away a large % of their audience, not near the cultural phenomenon it once was

Shows that aren't released weekly will never be as big of a cultural experience.

People like to experience it together and then talk about it all week. It builds and builds. Doesn't work with Netflix

There will be another water cooler show. I’d be shocked if multiple networks didn’t have a good bit in development with an eye towards filling the cultural void that Game of Thrones is leaving.

If anything, the dawn of the binge show has probably made networks focus more on finding that show. While Netflix, Amazon, etc. will always beat them with quantity, the AMCs and FXs of the world should focus more on quality. For the most part, I feel like they have.

A show about a “regular” person that has their life turned upside down unexpectedly and must endure. That person then turns out to be transgender. Not sure the setting yet.

Only thing I can think of is the Lord of the Rings Amazon is working on. Even that won't be as wide spread, though

Im hoping this turns out really good. Not like the crap movie version.

The Watchmen is going to be pretty popular. Hoping it takes off.

Disney destroyed a cultural phenomenon so I don't trust them to create anything worth a crap.

I never watched it but I'm curious why it seems to have died down?

They killed Star Wars, but they knocked it out of the park with Marvel.

My money is on The Boys, though it is because I am a fan of the source material.

The basic story is that there are superheroes in the world and The Boys are a quasi-governmental agency (CIA affiliated) which smacks around superheroes when they get out of line.

An early story in the books is how they surveil a young superhero team as they do a laundry list of debauchery then send proof of it to the team with a note saying that one member has to be thrown to the wolves and if they don’t choose, a choice will be made for them.

Then there is the Justice League expo whose initiation exercise for a new (female) member is to whip out their cocks and tell her she can either suck them all off or she can go back to the minor league team she was on.

Will it involve moving in with relatives on the west coast?

Marvel is a good set of shows and movies, don't get me wrong, but it's not the same as a Star Wars.

As for what made GoT so good, I think in a major way it has to do with the setting of a fantasy world. It was truly open to anything. I think there are a lot more than me that are kind of tired of the same old modern day crime dramas.
