Step away from the edge. There is a slim chance of CM being the one to take down Thanos. Just as all Avengers movies have been, it will be a team effort. Everyone will play a role in defeating Thanos. Will she deliver the final blow? It is possible, as her character is extremely powerful. But at the same time there is a very slim chance of this happening, maybe like 5%. Much more likely that Thor delivers the final blow, this time going for the head. It is obvious Marvel is paying homage to the phase 1 heroes in this movie, that is why the heroes who survived the snap were so strategic. CP will be the one to put the phase 1 team over the hump.
I do agree Marvel is pushing CM so that they can have their own version of Wonder Woman. I don't see that as a super bad thing, though.

Considering time travel will play a major role in the movie and we've had a major focus on Cap and Iron Man in these movies I'm highly doubting CM just comes in and kills Thanos.
Captain Marvel is extremely powerful but she won't deliver the killing blow, but will probably be a major key in winning. My guess is Cap and Tony both sacrifice themselves while killing Thanos

I still believe they won't "defeat" Thanos in the traditional sense. The whole idea is to keep him from getting the infinity stones.

[Cut to Thanos grinning, his hands on Thor and Captain America's heads as their arms flail like children trying to hit an adult bully.]
Thanos: "Did you really think that a pair of insects would have the power to thwart my plans?"
[Hulk leaps into the expanded frame, pummeling down towards Thanos.]
Hulk: "AND HULK!"
[Thanos swings Thor's body, swatting Hulk far into the distance.]
[Out of nowhere, a bolt of energy cuts Thanos in half, cut to Captain Marvel with her arms folded, pouting.}

If anyone other than the original 4 kill Thanos, I’ll be disappointed.
Except for Ant-Man. I know exactly how I would have it go too.
Thanos is wrecking everybody, and talking shite since he accomplished his goal saying that I’m going to break your hearts all over again. Ant-Man goes sub-atomic, gets in his body, goes to his heart, and rapidly accelerates to Giant Man bursting Thanos apart.
Scott yells out, now that’s a heartbreak.

I’m honestly surprised there hasn’t been a Captain Planet movie made or even going through production hell the last 10 years.
The guy who played Porn Stache in Orange is the New Black would be perfect for him. Give him the dolphin skin and Oompla Loomps hair dye and voila.
