I agree with her that a more diverse group of film critics (race, gender, socioeconomic, political) will inform a greater number of audience members and can only help put butts in seats, but honey, your entire career has boiled down to keeping white men happy...

Serious question: How do they know this? I’ve never checked a box when I have the ticket guy my tickets to a movie.

Oceans isn't loved as much as Ghostbusters.

A big chuck of the backlash was misplaced anger that we never got another original cast Ghostbusters.

Then, instead of the original cast, we get a gimmick cast.

Excellent point. Hadn't thought about it that way.

Should we make an original movie with an all woman cast?

Exactly. They act like A League of Their Own or Thelma and Louise never existed. Or 9 to 5. Or countless other successful movies with female protagonists.

I'm looking forward to Women in Black. Or The Softball Lot. Hell, make the Goonies all girl.

Yeah, it's not about an all-female cast. It's about a good movie, regardless of the sex of the protagonists.

People see straight through these all-female remakes as the cheap attempts they generally are.

I'll give ocean's 8 a chance though (DGAF about reviews, I'm just interested in their take on the series).

The wife and I watched it today. It was okay. Not great, not awful.

Sandra has had major work done. I don’t think her upper lip moved the entire movie.
I never noticed Cate Blanchette being attractive before. She’s one of those women who has gotten hotter with age.
Rihanna, however, is not getting more attractive - and that’s being kind.

I completely forget it was even released.
Yeah, I thought the movie came and went.

Nice examples.

Shut...ALOTO is probably my second favorite baseball movie after Bull Durham.

My biggest issue with these all-female clearly feminist movies is how they never seem to create original ideas to work with the all-female cast.

To me, the fact that they use the title names of successful all-male cast franchises as a vehicle for their all-female casts tells me they don't even believe in this all-female garbage.

We all know with both Ghostbusters and Ocean's Eleven they were trying to piggyback off those franchises previous success and in both cases fell flat on their face.

Same reason why the SJW garbage was thrust into TLJ. They know they had to use the Star Wars franchise as their medium because otherwise no one would watch and the fact that they injected into Star Wars is an admission of that their plan required the Star Wars name as a form of deception in a sense.

Biggest issue was a lack of consequence or any real concern that they would get caught. But it essentially felt like the other Oceans remakes

So is this another "Mary Sue" like movie? No feeling of impending failure, just perfect hit on all cylinders?

Agree with you on just about all of that. The movie was just ok.

It's laughable that anyone would think it shouldn't be compared to the other Oceans movies. The girlfriend and I agreed, if we were to rank them, it would go:

11

13

8

12

I just really thought 12 was dogshit.

This and the fact that you can not fail these days because you did a bad job. You only fail because everyone is out to get you. All goes back to those fricking trophies. Everyone does not get one.

Welcome to the new world

I put her in the same category as Jennifer Garner.

When they were 20 your think to yourself "yikes, she looks like she could be 40“. Now that they look the same but they're 50 you think to yourself "wow she looks like she could be 40.“

What a bunch of entitled bitches. And this line sums up the hypocrisy of the movement:

quote:

5) Its kinda, sorta hypocritical to make a gender swapped movie only to assert that there are differences between men and women, and the reviews should reflect that -- in regards to a movie that is trying to show that women can do the same things men can do

The way Sandra's lip didn't move I thought DC had CGI'd her moustache out.

Except that men and women are not genetically equal and cannot do the same things.

And a common complaint I heard that they wouldn't have minded an off shoot to the franchise as much as the complete remake

I haven't seen it and given the cast, I planned to see it because I believe it could at least be a good movie. My expectations aren't high because the trailer makes it look like a cheap remake.

If I recall correctly, Julia Roberts was an integral part of 11. Then Julia Roberts became the 12th w/ Catherine Zeta Jones being an integral part of that movie.

I am assuming that every guy in the movie are going to be minor background noises and/or a bumbling buffoon.

It's probably going to make at around $120 million domestic and if it does ok internationally it'll triple it's budget.
