There’s zero room for interpretation if you follow all the symbology. Chase stated as much. You never see it coming.

There’s a even an episode in the last season called Members Only, no hint there

At the sit down, the associates said they wouldn’t give up Phil’s location but they gave Tony their blessing and the green light. They knew that if Phil was found what would happen and seemed to not only make their peace with it, but be OK with it.
thats exactly the play. appease tony and get his guard down by giving up his boss that was causing problems for everyone. it makes him seem reasonable and willing to work with tony for business. now tony thinks its over, easy whack. he was playing both sides

When it aired I was still watching bootleg torrent stuff. I was super pissed. I thought the download had messed up, so I downloaded another copy. Same thing. I figured maybe the ripper had screwed up, so I found a different release (source). Same thing. Finally, I accepted that was the true ended.
On new shows, Narcos is good. Mad Men is an amazing series if you enjoy the 60s. Just did a rewatch of House; Forgot what a good show it was.

I think Tony’s alive.
WTF. He's clearly dead if you watched the easter eggs from that season, like his talk on the boat about what happens when you die. Something like 'it goes to black', I know I'm grossly misquoting but that scene all by itself all but confirms he was whacked.

Yeah that was in the last season. There were plenty of killings before then that didn’t fit the “you never see it coming” mantra.
But I agree Tony was whacked.

The only part I never really got was the Meadow parking shite
It's supposed to be symbolism for the attempts at Tony's life. She fails to park the first two times to the same way the first two attempts to whack tony failed.
She was successful on the third attempt...
This was also the only episode with no music in the credits. We were seeing everything from Tony's perspective. He gone.
Also, the ambiguity is gone considering David chase outwardly has stated that Tony died in the finale.
There are several good YouTube breakdown highlighting all the symbols in that last scene.

This is exactly it. I never understood the argument of "Tony couldn't have been whacked because who would've ordered the hit?"
Butchie and NY wanted to get rid of Philly because he was a pain in the arse, irrational, and a weak leader. They couldn't do it themselves so they had Tony do their dirty work. Once Tony and that little pigmie thing in Jersey had killed the boss of the Lupertazzi Family boss, there was no way they could let him live. It was a setup from the start. Tony was never a master strategist. He was a street guy with a lot of luck and prodigious charisma. Butchie hated Tony. He was the first to bring up whacking him when Phil was totally opposed to it at first.
The plan never changed--they cut the head off and dealt with what was left. The just did it without Phil.
All of this. Used Tony to do the job they “shouldn’t” do (in taking out their own boss) then killing Tony kills two birds with one stone: Taking out a guy who was a real threat to the NY crew and tying up a loose end.

And the whole thing is an homage to hits we saw in The Godfather series. Mob guy goes into the bathroom in a Member’s Only jacket.
Let’s face it. In any mob movie or show, the main guy, the Don is going to end up one of two ways: dead or in jail. With the very rare exception of someone walking away, which we know doesn’t happen in The Sopranos version of the mob. It just makes sense even without Chase confirming it.

Another theory is it wasn’t NY that killed Tony but Russians. Revenge over the Pine Barrens guy or any number of other things

could only get through maybe the first four episodes or whatever of The Wire. I thought that show was boring as shite.
?
If all you watched was four episodes you have no business commenting on it.
Sure I do. I watched 4 episodes, they were a bore. Maybe it took off later but the 4 episodes I saw were like some bullshite network cop show.
There's no way that show was better than The Sopranos because The Sopranos didn't start off shitty.

Either you are trolling, just determined not to like the show because it’s been so hyped up or maybe you have the attention span of a dog chasing squirrels. It’s called character and story development, sorry there we’re more ‘plosions and chase scenes for ya. But it’s nothing like an episodic network show, saying that destroys any credibility you have

Watched the Soprano series for the first time and just finished it last month. Great series and liked it as well as Breaking Bad. Now watching Mayor of Kingstown... seems to be a good series as well.

A while back, on Talking Sopranos with David Chase being interviewed he said that he never said Tony died and didn't know where that came from other than a misconstrued statement he made. He said he just stated the two alternate things that could have happened. He said it is still open to interpretation.
around 8:05
ETA: he does say Ralph killed Pie-O-My and talks about Phil possibly being gay.

I seriously envy people who tell me they just watched tGOAT show The Sopranos for the first time. It never tires, honestly.
I've never watched a show that's so character driven. It truly is amazing how much all of the characters contribute to the show and how you bond with their characters as the show progresses.
