Exactly. He'll eventually develop into the playboy Bruce. I liked that Reeves changed it up, we've already seen the playboy persona in the past. My only issue was Bruce had minimal screen time in this film.

I'm not sure Elon Musk fits your analogy. He might be the closest thing to a real life Bruce Wayne/Tony Stark that the world has ever seen. I don't think he's very attractive, but his relationship history would indicate women disagree with me (seriously, how did he convince that many women to have his kids?), and the dude literally funds/creates experimental technology. Would it shock anyone if he walked out on a stage in a functioning Iron Man suit?

I get where you're coming from, but you should have used Bill Gates instead.

Because Bruce Wayne is the alter ego. Batman is what the guy is really like in life. Pattinson's character hasn't developed that alter ego yet.

This is very true and I didn't realize this was the angle the director was going for for a while. My only problem is I find this slant on Batman's development to be less interesting than the inverse. It's cool seeing a playboy billionaire man becoming a vigilante to help himself come to terms with his parents' death, I didn't think it was as cool seeing an inverted emo kid becoming a vigilante to compensate for his family's past "transgressions."

If I'm off base there, I apologize, it's been a while since I saw it in theaters so my memory might be fuzzy.

Anyway...this movie was awful. It is a product of its time unfortunately. Had to do something new so it chose to be the nihilistic lovechild of Mare of Eastown, True Detective, and Euphoria. Some good scenes of Battinson, but Catwoman was a 4 foot 5 midget and Riddler was the weird kid from the neighborhood a la Prisoners. Penguin was the only original thought. Uninspired and tired.

I notice you didn't even attempt to refute anything I said. (It's because you can't)

It’s not the classic Riddler, but I thought it was a clever and topical reimagining of the character for the modern day, and fit within the world of Gotham being presented.

Though, I can definitely see why you (and others) wouldn’t like it and see it as a bastardization of the character, so agree to disagree.

Welcome to TigerDroppings Elon. Can you give the M/TV board a shoutout at your next product launch?

It would have been a better, tighter film if they just removed the whole catwoman and falcone storyline

Just part of feminizing male heroes and making the female roles all powerful and all knowing.

This Batman is a bit of a wimp frankly.

It was 40 minutes too long. The last big set piece, while cool, just felt out of place. Still an 8/10 for me. The first two hours was exactly the kind of Batman movie I had been wanting. A slow burn, murder mystery where Batman is more detective than karate badass taking down bad guys, even though that was in there too.

The flooding scene/act was beyond dumb. As if all of Manhattan/Gotham could fit inside MSG/Gotham Arena

Howard Hughes? Supposedly part of the original inspiration for Iron Man. Not a coincidence they named Tony's dad "Howard Stark." Howard, in turn, inherited a massive fortune from his father and embraced the playboy image, for a time anyway.

I'm fine with a modern twist on the character, but when Riddler starts streaming and thanking his "community" i found it a bit too on the nose

I haven’t watched it yet because of the reviews from this board and the stupid add that was on the FireStick home screen.

Also, in true Hollywood ham-handedness, the "good" characters (Gordon, Catwoman, etc) are POCs. Every "evil" character (Riddler, Penguin, etc) are white. Real subtle.
