If you look at overall gross for each of the trilogies, the second movie in the two previous trilogies dropped in gross by about 30%.  It was 32% drop from E4 to E5 ($307m to $209m) and it was a 30% drop from E1 to E2 ($431m to $302).

Both The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens opened on the Friday before the weekend of Christmas.   For TFA Xmas was the Friday, for TLJ Xmas was the Monday.   Let’s see where the both were as of the Monday after the Xmas weekend.

Oh look

The Force Awakens - $540m    The Last Jedi - $397     a drop of 27%.

Looks like it actually is doing better at this point than both prior “middle” movies.

I guess we will find out how much staying power it has, but stories of its demise seem premature.

Fake news

TLJ had a difference of $150 million+ between the 1st and 2nd weekends. That is the biggest drop in history

You are fake news.

The drop in revenue will be felt on the next movie. Most people went in blind or mislead by bullshite critic "reviews." The financial hurt will be felt going forward as people start to realize these movies are piles of shite.

Explain how a “running out of fuel” based plot when fuel has never been an issue for other ships in the SW movie universe in history. See my “Speed movie” comparison later on.

In the ENTIRE history of Stars Wars there is not ONE single instance of a vehicle running low of fuel until we get our first woman driver.

We’ve also never had a female Asian driver in its entire Star Wars history either.

We FINALLY had not only our first one, but our first TWO...

....Both wreck their vehicles.

Given how Holdo destroyed the First Order, if anything, we’ve now discovered the most powerful weapon in all of SW - a woman with the car keys.

Explain why the resistance didn’t just put a droid on the main ship, evacuate everyone off of it, and do that hyperjump through the dreadnaught at the very beginning of the chase?

In fact, if hyperspace is now the most powerful weapon why didn’t they evacuate a medical ship (like what happened in the movie) then turn it around an hyperspace kamikaze it through the fleet at the very beginning of the movie?

Explain why the first order couldn’t track back in light speed and then light speed back in from of the resistance fleet and just annihilate them. It was like they were trying to recreate the movie Speed where the purple haired lady was Bullock and Poe was Reeves except it was slow, Dennis Hopper was played by a cartoon ginger, and the plot to stop the bus actually blew up the bus and everyone in it.

Explain SNOKE.

W

T

F

STEP 1: set up mysterious unbeatable evil bad villain
STEP 2: Kill him with trick learned in Jedi Kindergarten

Explain how Force ghosts are now able to perform Thor level feats like reigning lightning from the heavens and how that doesn’t create an issue with every plot ever done and also going forward. Luke’s immediate response should have been:

Luke: (stunned) are you SHITTING me? Where was that when I was getting fried by Palpatine you piece of shite?! Were you too busy licking force taints while my students were slaughtered and my temple was burned down? Were you wanking off watching Lando scrub his chode when Han was murdered? Answer me ASSBASKET?!

Explain how the rebels are somehow using bay doors and gravity to deliver bombs in outer space. How does the First Asian chick breath in space with the bay doors open? Why is she not sucked into the vacuum of space? Why are the resistance fighters not sucked into space when they let Leia in? Rian Johnson (to himself): “shite! HOW DOES SPACE WORK?”

Explain why Luke, who is the Star Wars living embodiment of hope, was such a bitch quitter who essentially stated he was suicidal. And why, at the end, he killed himself after being a FaceTime hero when he apparently had the power to kill himself at any point over the years but did not. Luke was NOT Luke Skywalker in this movie. He was Luke CryGawker. He wasn’t the new HOPE anymore. He was the old NOPE. Totally misunderstood his character.

The very fact Luke made a map of where he was hiding seems to negate his entire purpose for hiding, does it not? After all, if Luke was depressed, shut himself off from the force and just waited to die alone, constructing an elaborate map for someone to find seems odd. Luke literally broke character from TFA to TLJ, let alone the original trilogy. (Aside: How did Han Solo know Rey in TFA. He clearly did and it was important...well, I guess not? See next post)

Explain what was Luke’s third lesson to Rey? How to go out like a bitch?

Explain how Luke milking that alien’s johnson and then gurgling its “go go juice” back at Rey as if to see if she wanted in on hand action was a nice Star Wars moment. Or maybe that was a lesson - how to give an outer rim job?

Explain Finn and Roses’ purpose in the movie, why Finn has shown no character growth at all, and why they their story took up 33% of the film time. Rose LITERALLY sabatoged the ONE plan that she thought could save everyone so she could save a camelhorse that will be killed when the sun comes up, all the while ignoring slave children - because it was “worth it”

Explain why Rose DIDN’T know the escape pod plan? Her job was to watch/maintain the escape pods. So wouldn’t someone had said - make sure these pods stay in bay but remain ready to go by “this point in time” and to be “refueled” since that is now a thing?

Explain Rose’s attempted murder of Finn (again sabatoging the ONE plan to save the resistance because LOVE wins, “dying” like she was in a spaghetti western, Finn leaving her there to die after she confessed her love (the biggest lulz of the movie to me) only to drag her back across the battlefield in FRONT of the AT-ATs and the first order and no one shoots them. It’s like the First Order thought “it would be more punishment for the Rebels for her to live”

W
T
F

Explain how Chewie was relegated to an Uber Driver befriending baby penguin Mogwais and how Rey is nothing more than Joe Dirt in space.

Explain why Rey didn’t force lift (ie kidnap) Kylo onto the Millennium Falcon and take him as a prisoner when she came to and Chewy ubered her out of the throne room? I mean...wouldn’t that have ended the threat right then and there? Instead, she left him laying there she could have at least maimed him

Explain how we are to fear Kylo who, as a sith is pretty much a bitch, when he has done nothing but get is arse kicked in both films, while also seeing the supreme and pointless evil snoke die so easily.

Explain how all the allies in the outer rim left Leia hanging - no one gave a crap about them even though we had two speeches indicating how they had supporters everyone. But WAIT...we see a kid who can force pull a broomstick feeding a camelhorse does so all is saved.

Death Star tech being the biggest threat to the “rebels” again? AGAIN??? A.G.A.I.N.!!!!???

Speaking of which, when did they become “rebels”? Isn’t the republic still technically in charge? And, if not, HOW? Did wiping out the First Order’s Largest Weapon make them an unstoppable conquering force in the LITERAL 15 seconds between TFA and TLJ? (As seen by the immediate lightsaber toss). How much time passed in that first scene on the island with Luke and Rey that allowed the first order to take over the galaxy?

Why does Han act and talk like he knows who Rey is in TFA? They kinda threw that out the window...unless he blew her junky dad for cocaine once

In the very end, we are shown an “inspired” kid playing with a “Luke doll” SpaceBalls style. That’s cool and all minus the Druish Princesses lust for money and power...but ummm...how did this kid hear about this so soon when there were no resistance witnesses to it? I guess Kylo likes to run around the galaxy doing Brian Regan impressions relating how stupid he can be sometimes.

The first scene with Poe was ripped right from Thor: Ragnarok

1. Make self vulnerable
2. Play dumb
3. Make jokes about villain
4. Halt conversation in an akward manner (Thor spinning around, Poe “losing connection”)
5. Use jokes to stall while plan is unfolding

Explain Luke’s metal hand dissipating when he becomes a force ghost

Explain why were Rey and Chewy randomly flying around looking for “life forms”? They were LITERALLY just in a freaking dog fight with life forms next to the door with a huge hole in it that led to a room full of life forms. Did the force make them forget 5 minutes in the past and unable to see billows of smoke in the horizon indicating the exact location of life forms?

Explain how Poe isn’t viewed as a traitor and executed for treason. Holdo had NO CLUE the “hacker man” sold them out from her perspective. Her only viable train of thought would be “Poe must have betrayed us”. Why wasn’t he executed. His actions kill 95% of the resistance.

Explain why it was decided to smuggle a character driven film featuring Poe and titled “find the code breaker” featuring the scooby doo gang into a plot driven film that did nothing but undermine the very character growth they were aiming for in their “find the code breaker” mini movie.

Explain why we care about the purple haired lady and why it couldn’t be Ackbar or Antilles other than the fact we arbitrarily needed someone Poe couldn’t trust to force him on his meaningless hijinks.

Explain why it was necessary for everyone but Poe to know the great actual plan other than they needed a way for him to Star in a scooby doo plot.

HAD POE FREAKING TOLD HOLDO HIS PLAN AND EXPLAINED THE HYPERDRIVE TRACKING BEING JUST ON THE MAIN SHIP ALONE SHE COULD HAVE SENT ALL THE OTHER SHIPS INTO HYPERSPACE IMMEDIATELY AND SAVED THOUSANDS OF LIVES.

ALL of these questions could have been resolved if we got to see Rey’s boobies.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan. If the reviews aren't good, I won't be there for the next installment.

They burned some nearly indestructible bridges with this movie.

Luke is the HOPE of the SW universe. He hoped in his father even after he wiped out the entire Jedi order and killed BILLIONS of innocent people. Luke stood in the darkness, faced the darkness and was the only one to see light.

Ben and Yoda failed. They saw Luke as the hope and gave up on Vader while Luke saw his Dad as the real hope against ALL odds, even the words and feelings of his mentors.

That’s what made Luke so special. He was better than Kenobi, better than Yoda. He was so full of hope he found it where no one else could see it against all odds and logic.

In VADER.

And we expect this guy to consider for even a second to murder his own blood, the baby boy of his beloved sister and best friend, a kid who had done NOTHING wrong, in his SLEEP because Luke sensed “possible darkness”?

And then to run and hide, cut himself off from the force after this failure. The same guy who once had the balls walked right into the emperor’s throne after getting his arse handed to him by Vader in cloud city?

We expect him to FaceTime the final battle when, in every other battle he’s ever been in, he demanded to be on the front lines?

For years we’ve been raised on a guy who never gave up on himself, on his father, on Kenobi, on Yoda, on Han, on Leia - who never backed down from a fight...only to see him commit suicide alone.

It doesn’t make sense.

I didn’t even catch that.

How would they even know the story?

I know you troll a lot and make a lot of goofball posts.

But that was one of the best posts/series of posts I’ve ever seen here. Thank you for putting together all the shite I hate about this movie. Before now they had been disjointed snippets that would come up randomly in various conversations when I’d discuss why I dislike this movie. Now, I’m just gonna copy this post into my notes and just deliver it as a monologue next time I discuss this movie. Or just paste it into a text.

I can only explain one part.
The force fields on the ships keep atmosphere in and keep energy out.
You could walk through the field, but not shoot through it.

Same concept when they opened the doors.
The bomber scene was annoying.

Though having reactors need fuel and ships in Hyperspace having more power than the Death Star ruin everything.

You could go back to the first scene of the first movie.

"Princess Vader's ship is on us. We need to evacuate".
--leia " okay, everyone off the ship. R2. Stay behind and fly the ship into Vader's ship"

Vader and Tarkin are dead now.

--on alderaan.

. Okay we found the weak spot. C3p0 fly my ship into the death star at this point.

Boom, movie over in fifteen minutes. No droids on Tatooine, Luke competes the harvest, his aunt and uncle don't die and the Empire is getting it's but kicked and only two robots died.

The USN has ships that run on nuclear power and never run out of fuel.

I assumed the ships in Star Wars had similar capabilities.

Damn you are an angry elf.

Sorry they killed Luke. I had forgotten how the Star Wars universe collapses without him.

I just throwing out the actual numbers here and showing that for all of your hate for it, this movies box office actually compares very favorably to other "middle" movies of the trilogies.

It is performing equal to Empire and Attack if not better.

It’s like you intentionally aren’t reading anything i’ve typed.

My hate of this movie has nothing to do with killing Luke or politics. I could give two shits.

In fact I was 110% on board with killing Luke.

It’s HOW they obliterated his actual character and undercut the entire OT because...reasons?

The female feminist shite doesn’t bother me. I just find it hilarious how every theme they tried to push accidentally backfires on screen.

That's what I don't understand. The critics all claim it's wonderful, but the audience reviews say it's terrible. Critics being paid off?
