Ruining Luke's legacy and the hyperspace thing are insanely damaging to the SW universe.

How anyone let the hyperspace thing go past the drawing board is beyond me. Why even have Death Stars at this point? Just rig a bunch of ships with huge amounts of mass and hyperspace them.

It's amazing how quickly this thread went from the original point to just bashing the movie. Not one person has actually successfully refuted the OP.

I think you rating The Last Jedi 8/10 and then your posts about the movie might be the biggest discrepancy in history.

Nope. The first post is still accurate. When comparing all 3 middle movies of the three Star Wars trilogies (Episodes 2, 5, and 8), Episode 8 had the least decline between the previous movie.

I was pretty clear in my qualifiers. I’ve posted my reasoning multiple times.

If you approach this like Transformers, a Michael Bay film, ingnore all SW lore and rules of the SW universe, turn your brain off and just want to be entertained then it’s 8/10.

If that’s how you watched it, fine.

But that’s not how many people watch SW movies

The 52% audience rating is there for a reason

Show me that qualifier here:

My review:

8/10

Short summary: Finn is a useless, flat character. His, Rose, and Poe’s plan is utterly pointless and actually leads to the death of most of the resistance yet they are too stupid to realize it. Their entire line of hijinks post the first scene was totally unnecessary to the story. Finn should had died redeeming himself from his retarded plan leading to the death of thousands by realizing his guilt and flying into the laser. But NO, his stupidity is outdone by Roses’ who determines that in order to save the man she loves she must commit attempted murder and top it off by dying like she was in a high school play. And THEN Finn left her there to die (WTF) while some random red shirt drug her body in to save her (iirc).

Rey (HOT) and Luke were fantastic. Ben Solo was great as well. It’s obvious Rey is just Anakin reborn, the reincarnation of the chosen ala Aang from the last Air Bender.

Ben Solo, though great, has done nothing by get his arse kicked by Rey and outsmarted over the course of less than a week and we’re supposed to fear him in Ep 9, LULZ.

Snoke was a waste and went out like a bitch.

Great movie though.

8/10

No where in here do you say, "I only like it if I shut off my mind and watch it like a moron." You obviously liked the movie. Then, other people smarter than you told you it had flaws and you changed your mind to go with the flow. Hence the...

You: "Luke was fantastic"
You: "It’s HOW they obliterated his actual character and undercut the entire OT because...reasons?"

You: "Great movie though."
You: "Then they took a GIANT shite on all of it."

And you wonder why very, very few people take you seriously.

All of this.

The haters are just trolling at this point. If any of them actually sat down and watched the original star wars movie, there were just as many flaws and wtfs.

It's fantasy, not reality...who cares about the inner workings of the mythical hyperdrive (last I checked thats not a real thing)...sit back...eat your popcorn and enjoy it for what it is.

Going for the 3rd time tonite...

Well, that point is actually irrelevant outside of discussing only the opening weekend.

It was riding high off of TFA’s momentum for opening weekend and horribly inflated critic lies.

The fact that it had the largest drop between the 1st and 2nd weeks IN MOVIE HISTORY is far more damning than the movie showing the smallest decrease in opening compared to the previous 2 middle movies.

Again, your point is irrelevant.

If it fails to show increased ticket sales, the opening weekend doesn’t matter.

nope

it's a bad movie that destroys lots of what made the OT great and beloved while also nonsensically attacking TFA

it fails on all levels. it's not just the massive plot holes

I know right, it's crazy, I don't take movies seriously. I show up, eat my popcorn and get entertained for a couple of hours.

I could give two shits about the deeper meaning behind the movies or whatever most are on about. It's a god damn fantasy movie. It's not a analogy to the world we live in right now.

Were there issues...hell yeah...the whole finn tromp to casino world was a waste of 30 minutes...who cares...the last hour was the most entertained I had been at a movie in two years.

Like I said, most of you are just trolling at this point.

ok well the flashy stuff in TLJ likely appealed to you, then

you just admitted you weren't a fan of the OT (because you just go to movies for base-level entertainment and that means you don't have any lasting connection to the movies), so you wouldn't understand how the flashy lights and slick visuals of TLJ ruined the very soul of the OT. that's OK

don't tell the production team this

hi i'm SFP and i've reviewed movies and TV on this site for over 10 years. this movie is a part of one of the most beloved movie series of my youth and i have a lot of emotional connection to the underlying source material. why would you say that i'm trolling by calling a bad movie, bad? how can you claim i'm trolling when i am accurately describing how this movie dissolved a lot of what made those beloved movies, beloved?

you admit you have no critical eye for movies, so how can you even comprehend criticisms of movies?

My guess is you weren't a fan of JJ trek either because, good lord we updated to look of the bridge.

As we move forward in technology we can make science fiction movies more "flashy" it's part of the craft of movie making.

So Star Wars went to a more diversity look...who cares...as long as the story was good. Hell, people were freaking the frick out in Force Awakens because we had a black stormtrooper in the trailer (until it was explained). Times change.

i have a lot of emotional connection to the underlying source material.

And you have made it quite clear that you disliked it. At what point are you beating the dead horse to death?

quote:

Easy. It didn't. The saga is changing. But not one single word of the OT (despite Lucas' best efforts) has changed. (Han shot first). However in the modern age we are handing off the galaxy to a younger generation, mostly because the older one is dying off. My grandkid loves Rey and Finn. I mean, really that's who Disney is aimming at. You and me aren't the target audience any more...and it's great that you are trying to be the gate keeper for the OT. But those movies are in the past.

quote:

you admit you have no critical eye for movies, so how can you even comprehend criticisms of movies?

I comprehend them fine.

But at the end of the day I look at any movie and ask myself. Was that worth the price of popcorn.

In the case of this one...clearly it was. I was bored with the 2nd act. The final one kicked arse and gave us probably the best Jedi fight action we have seen to date.

Really I don't need much more then that.

pew pew for the win.

I do wish they had let Luke wreck shite...
