Like I said, most of you are just trolling at this point.
I wish that were the case. I think most of the people disappointed were the ones looking the most forward to a good Star Wars movie. It was entertaining on the surface but if you go an inch deeper you see that this movie made zero sense and did nothing to further the plot one bit. There was no payoff and the all of the gotcha twists seemed to be there just to be there. Subverting Expectations is a term I see thrown around a lot by the trolls who tell other people this movie is fantastic. Well if your expectations were a good Star Wars movie then I’d say the mission was accomplished.

That was my initial reaction immediately walking out of the theater surrounded by about 10 people you know IRL which can vouch for my “Michael Bay” outlook (and I don’t back down from that I’ve never wavered from the 8/10 review based on entertainment alone yet you conveniently left out my other 20 posts where I said that over and over again)

I had to shut my brain off by the end of the movie just to finish it, and when I did, I found it entertaining. When I immediately started to really think about the movie (within three minutes of walking out), I realized this is an entertaining movie but it’s an entertaining movie for people with their brains off.
And Luke, aka Mark Hammill, WAS fantastic - for this story. But THIS story isn’t the old Star Wars. It’s a lazy Star Wars, a money grab Star Wars - a Transformers.
Again, that’s FINE. But I don’t see how anyone can take you seriously either considering I probably have 100+ posts that are consistently saying the same things over and over but you can’t
1. Acknowledge even one of them
2. Refute even ONE of my 50 legit writing criticisms of the movie.
I’ve yet to see ONE. It’s just this “troll” name calling.

You sound like a liberal. Why do I have to acknowledge your points? I wasn't discussing the quality of the movie. I was discussing the quality of your posting.
Now, you're being intellectually dishonest. There's not a single person who agrees with your criticisms of this movie (and there are a lot of people who agrees with you) that would rate it 8/10, even turning their brain off.

Maybe it’s because I’m the only one actually making any between the two of us? You keep trying to ask leading questions to control the conversation that isn’t going anywhere. My posts have at least been stacked with substantial opinions. Care to make one about this movie yourself?

To which the points are the theme of my posts in which you are not responding. Go ahead, keep whiffing.

That’s not what I heard. I guess you haven’t been reading extremetiger constantly telling me why I don’t like the movie on here? From not liking female leads, to not wanting Luke dead - directly responding to me, even though I never complained about any of that.
And I’m sure there are several people who agree with my criticism about it being simpleton entertainment. Hell, pull up half the reviews.
Looks great
Sounds amazing
Great cinematography
Great special effects blending
Great action sequences throughout
Decent throwback score movements
Funny Quips etc
Just like Transformers. Plenty of people dig that, and I do too, but I’m not going to pretend it was supposed to be a Transformers movie either.

Has TLJ released in China? They put the Chinese girl in the film to appeal to them, just like blind Chinese guy in Rogue One
Posted on 12/26/17 at 7:29 pm to Parmen
She’s actually Vietnamese - hooking up with a black dude.
Not sure if the Chinese are gonna dig that
But at least they made Yoda into Thor and not a ghost so the movie could be shown in China - never mind the huge plot issues that creates.

I would bet they have a Chinese cut where Finn and Rose don’t kiss.

If you look at overall gross for each of the trilogies, the second movie in the two previous trilogies dropped in gross by about 30%. It was 32% drop from E4 to E5 ($307m to $209m) and it was a 30% drop from E1 to E2 ($431m to $302).
Both The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens opened on the Friday before the weekend of Christmas. For TFA Xmas was the Friday, for TLJ Xmas was the Monday. Let’s see where the both were as of the Monday after the Xmas weekend.
Oh look
The Force Awakens - $540m The Last Jedi - $397 a drop of 27%.
Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but . . . . Nah, I'll really enjoy this
1) The original movie was only released in a handful of theaters, so there in absolutely no way you can draw any comparison to the OT with the drop in this trilogy
2) You have no clue how the final numbers will shake out for TLJ, so you can only compare what we know today in realtion to the 2nd trilogy.
After the first Monday, AotC posted $201,309,770 in sales, against TPM $207,099,058. Which puts it at 97% of box office, of the 1st installment of that trilogy.
After the first Monday of this trilogy, TLJ has $395,627,411 in sales, against TFA $571,420,943. Not sure how you math, but that's only 69% of box office of the 1st installment
3) Even if you want to continue focusing on total gross from both trilogies
OT - ANH $461 million less ESB's $291 million = $170 million
2nd trilogy - TPM $493 million less AotC $311 million = 182 million
current trilogy - TFA is already up by $176 million on TLJ, and we are only in week 2

Not at all true. I absolutely agree with him that this is a good film, but not a good Star Wars film.

It sabotages the universe it claims to build upon. The absence of jedi training to use powerful skills, the growth of characters, the major plotlines of the prior trilogies make no sense with force ghosts and warp drive weapons.
It can't be a good movie in this universe. It would still have some problems (among other things with gender hatred in the subtext of a children's movie), but it would have worked better as a star trek movie than a star wars movie.

I suspend my disbelief. I actually enjoyed this movie a lot more on a second viewing. It’s not the worst thing out there. The visuals were well done. Except the casino place looked way too contemporary.

Well those are the facts. Kinda hard to refute. However...
I do agree with the fifth post.

The drop in revenue will be felt on the next movie.
The next one is gonna feel the pain. Unless JJ can make everyone believe he can turn this thing around.

I think they could show a constipated dog taking a shite for two hours, slap the name "Star Wars" on it, and it'd still make bank.
