Even your numbers are wrong. In the U.S., ten percent of all marriages are interracial while seventeen percent of new marriages are interracial. It's a common thing but the people who are triggered by it vastly overestimate how often it's depicted on television and in commercials. It bothers them so it sticks in their craws and then they spew it out later. Usually it's the waterheads and the mouth breathers on the OT and Poli boards that start this topic every week.

Yeah, I was using the most conservative figure I thought was plausible. I don’t look down on rural people, but there are a few racist fricks that think the whole country looks like their street and should stay that way. Granted most of these people are 20 years older than my parents and are fortunately dying off, but you still have the occasional racist frick like the OP that slip past.

As an FYI, the numbers I gave are Pew Research numbers from 2015. Other sources are similar.
And this attitude about interracial stuff isn't exclusive to rural people or older people. Or white people, for that matter.

I think I spend too much time on this board.
When I notice a gay or interracial couple in a commercial, all I can think is that someone on here is probably getting mad. I've never been anywhere where people really care but here.

Honestly, I never really hear stuff like this from rural or small town people. In small towns where everybody knows each other it's not that big a deal these days to find out that ol' Billy turned out queer after all, or Suzie's dating a black guy "from a fine family."
Sheltered suburbanites are much, much more likely to be surprised to find out that the world doesn't look exactly like their street or their fellow cubicle dwellers. Purely anecdotal, but I think the most racist adults I've known have been Yankee transplants who carefully picked out the safe little suburb they wanted to settle down in to get away from all the trash.

Its not racist to think your street or the country should continue to stay the way it is. This idea that change is progress has been intentionally propagated and has been very successful in the zeitgeist. That and "what are you, anti-science?" are veryyyy effective tools.
Im not even agreeing or disagreeing with any specific applications or scenarios. But in a world where someone deems themselves to be behind, simply labeling change as a "progressive" is a sneaky and potentially damaging move.
Obama had some of the most famous political art we will ever see that had Change, Progress, and Hope interchangeable. Change? Coronavirus is change. The slave ships landing on the shores of the Americas is change. What the frick is the inherit positive value of CHANGE itself.

Sure. if you simplify that. But if you simply dont want the culture of your community to change...thats a fair thought. This idea that all existing segmented cultures must be melded and eliminated is scary to me. Why cant communities maintain a culture that suits them? Are the people that are against this also pro gentrification or cultural appropriation? Or are only some cultures and cultural hubs allowed to attempt to remain unadulterated?

I get it. It's more trying to hit every demographic beat in your ads than it is any SJW conspiracy.
