Oh, signs is super underrated. There are some truly great moments. A lot of misses, but there is some super creepy stuff

I think it gets hated on because of the ending of water being the kryptonite of the aliens, but im someone who can enjoy the ride of a movie all the way through, and SIGNS did that for me. It’s one of my favorite movies in its genre.
Edit: The knife scene and the news video at the kids party both got me pretty good.

I’ve always loved Signs. The tension built by not showing the aliens completely for so long is great.
As far as the water weakness, I think it’s a nod to War of the Worlds where the Martians are killed by Earth germs. Surely a spacefaring race would be aware of those as well.

Just seems silly to invade a planet 70% covered by your greatest weakness. Not to mention how the “scouts” survived rain and morning dew.

The ending is easily the weakest part, but I enjoy this movie very much. I’ll watch it pretty much any time I see that it’s on. In fact, I watched it two weeks or so ago when I saw it pop up on HBO.

Great 3/4ths of a movie. Really shitty nonsensical final 1/4 that ruins it. First. Alien invasion of a planet that’s 75%+ water and it’s your only weakness? 
That alien commander got fired.
Also. Aliens looked awful. Kinda hilariously. Ruined the immersion.

Screw that movie! I’m going to invade a planet I’ve been scouting for years that is 80% full of a substance that’s going to kill me, and I’ve mastered space travel...but I don’t know how to make a waterproof suit? Ruins the whole movie for me. Good thing they didn’t land during a rainstorm, would have been a short movie. And no explanation as to how the other aliens on the planet are dealt with.
Decent idea and build-up, but the payoff ruined it.

And even that hate is extremely flawed. And I can always defend the film by the rules the film itself setup.

It was a scouting mission. The aliens avoided the lakes.
The movie says this.
A major plot point in the movie Interstellar was tracking down scouting missions. Hell, most sci-fi movies are about scouting missions. There are many unknowns when scouting, and you know what parts on the mission to avoid. The aliens did this.

Never thought of this but I think you're right.
Unfortunately, That may work in MNight's mind, it does not work that well on the screen. Even with the amazing score.
