He puts her in her place quite a few times.

I think she nailed it

No I am applying the direct definition of antihero to the two characters in the movie that are obviously displaying those characteristics.

Definition of antihero
Anti-heroes are still good people, but their approach to achieving what they want might be different than what society deems "acceptable".

I think she nails it as well. Great role.

As to who the good guys are, Alejandro and Brosin are the lesser of 2 evils that Emily has to choose between. She knows she either has to unleash them on the cartel or go back to busting street level thugs and never making a real difference. They flat out say it in the movie.

I loved the movie.. It keeps you on the edge the entire time.

I still don't think I get the full message of the dead bodies in walls. They mentioned hostages.. What exactly was this about? Can someone explain it to an idiot?

This thread makes me wish Don Winslow hadn't gone insane and that the Power of the Dog trilogy would get made into a high end movie or show.

Wait, did they cancel it? Last I heard fx had ordered the pilot, and I believe they had already cast a few characters. Will be pissed.

I believe this was a reference to two incidents in which mass cartel graves were discovered. In 2010 and 2011 both involved Los Zetas and both took place in San Fernando. I could be thinking too much into it though it may have just been a way to kick off the movie. The San Fernando Massacres were much larger in scale than what is discovered in the movie.

I didn't know about the FX show, I just knew about the film rights that I hadn't heard anything on in years.

Hopefully FX will bring it to fruition and has learned some things since The Bridge.

If y’all want a grittier and more stylized Sicario, check out Too Old to Die Young on Amazon. It’s not for everyone but it’s pretty entertaining and brutal.

Zero, Zero, Zero is great too.

Because I started it late last night and went to sleep. I finished it a little while ago though. It’s good. Man, that scene with BdT and the boss was brutal. Same with the end scene with him and Emily Blunt. Now that I’ve seen it I plan on reading this thread fully tomorrow.

Wait till you get to the part where someone calls Blunt the antagonist.

Also not sure how anyone could see BDT as the hero in this.

Burn Notice guy is the only hero in that movie.

You do realize she’s an actress and actresses have to act based on their role of a particular character

There are no "good guys" in Sicario. Kate isn't the "good guy," she's the audience stand-in. That's the only thing that makes her the protagonist.

That is the point of the movie. Sometimes the government needs bad men to do bad things.

I have to go check but I'm 99% sure I did not make this claim

Until the framing changes as the ruse is revealed and it shifts to Alejandro, who reveals "the Beast" (a normal-looking family having a peaceful dinner)

the thing that would have made this movie really unpredictable is if she would have really shot him in the end and not just threaten only to back down

They straight up tell the audience who the movie is about in the opening credits….
