Just finished the first 2 episodes. They knocked it out of the park. Fantastic so far.

Haven't read the book in years, but it feels true to it.

made it 3/4ths of the way before tapping out. I love the subject matter and visuals but not the execution. Dialogue with subtitles, and score got tiresome quickly for me.

What a child.

You consistently have shite taste and opinions on shows yet still feel compelled to post your shite here.

Is it normal for an FX show to show bare breasts? Not that I'm complaining. Loved the first two episodes, but did the opening scene feel a little like AI to anyone else? Like they used CGI to make the actors look sicker? The guy that shot himself off screen didn't look 100% real to me.

Anyway, glad they are doing subtitles. Don't think it would hit as well if the Japanese were speaking English.

What a breath of fresh air, a show with a complicated plot and complicated characters with nuanced motivations. It's the kind of thing Hollywood doesn't seem to do anymore, instead catering to the lowest common denominator.

Went to sleep halfway through EP1 last night because I was exhausted, but YouTube TV only had the dubbed over version. I seriously hate dubbed over voices, I would much rather hear the actual language so you get the real tone/emotion and read the subtitles. Going to have to watch it somewhere else than on YouTube TV.

Great first two episodes. That cauldron death and smashing the head against the side …

Couple of other oh shite moments too

I'll probably watch it ....later. I'm hesitant because I liked the original from the 80s so much and read the book so the mini was surprisingly very close to the book. I can take/leave Chamberlain, but I'm having a hard time believing anyone could surpass Toshiro Mifune as Toranaga.

as I said, I know I'll cave and watch it though

i don't mind subtitles at all. in fact, one of my favourite shows used them (Dark). if the dialogue and storytelling would be better i might have continued.

i'm not saying the show is bad, it just feels a bit amateurish to me

That's odd. I watch certain shows with captions on even if they are in English, so I figured it was maybe dubbing it because I had the captions on. When I turned them off it still was dubbed. Tried to look for ways to turn it off but couldn't find it.

I’m 1/4 way through teaser #1 and I don’t know if it’s for me. Very choppy, not a lot of character development. I’ll try to stick out.
