Same, this is the "International Assassin" for Severance at this point IMO.

You also gotta entertain the idea that this was some ploy

It's clear that the innies are naive and childlike.

Perhaps Lumon observed Mark and Dylan reading Ricken's self-help book and saw the profound effect it had.

So they set up a scenario where they shared an additional, "secret" tome (IV) imparted by Kier, which had been written in such a way to manipulate them via a similar, but more controlled way.

Childlike? Yup.

Balloons with Mark's face. Marshmallows with the founder's face. Waffle Parties. A jazz party. Using the type of sentences you use when addressing children. The tallest waterfall? Getting mad when they laugh at the brother jacking off.

I am curious what the severance process actually blocks. They obviously do not know who they are, but they retain all knowledge of language, communication skills and working a computer. They know what the sky is, but do not know what it looks like. They understand waterfall, but no knowledge of world geography.

I am sure the severance process is whatever it needs to be for this show, however it is kind of a little detail plot hole.

Didn’t she run away in fear of Lumon killing / abducting her (or something else?) when Helena asked her to come chat with the board? Seems unlikely that she would go back to Lumon.

Circumstances have changed quite a bit, no?

Irv attempting to murder Helena Eagen could absolutely shift leverage and only proves Cobel right. If she got a call asking her to run the severance floor because she was right, I think she’d listen.

See it made sense that Helly laughed at this, as she an outie.

How does innie Mark know what sex is, or what masturbating is? Was he just laughing to laugh with Helly, b/c I doubt he understood what he was laughing at?

You should probably watch some interviews with Ben and Dan.

They address that they had to draw the line somewhere. Can speak, tie shoes, a lot of basic functionality. And just like reintegration, the severance procedure isn’t perfect either and there can be bleed over of memories. I wouldn’t consider it a plot hole at all.

I watched one. You should not need to watch a bunch of interviews for them to fill in the gaps. It would be something easy enough to integrate. It is a great show, love it, it is just a minor missing detail.

Roughly, where does it stop and where does it end.

This isn’t a hold your hand type show. They don’t need to publish a paper on the severance process - although with these guys it wouldn’t surprise me. I’ve stated before that Dan actually wrote 50 pages of Ricken’s book, not just a handful of sayings.

Don't know if anyone saw, but next episode is titled "Trojan Horse." Who do you think this is referring to?

So, no big deal that she thought they were going to harm her? Just water under the bridge now? I mean, I'm not saying she wont accept a job there in the show, but it would be a big WTF moment from me. It would make her seem pretty dumb and not make much sense.

My wife and I rewatched the scene at the campfire a couple times, and we couldn’t figure out what led Helly to infer he was jacking off.

Did we miss anything? I’m assuming so.

I didn't get it either. I just assumed that it was some inside knowledge or rumors she was aware of as an outtie.

Y'all missed the line earlier in the story about how he "spilled his lineage onto to the soil"

It was pretty obvious in the "spilling his seed" story.

I mean let’s look at your previous post:

You just gave a pretty good summation of what the severance process does and does not block, based entirely on knowledge gained by watching the show. I’d argue that means they did integrate it into the show.

You pretty much summed it up. I’m sure someone could go into various types of memory (semantic vs. episodic etc.) and build a detailed explanation for the types of memories that would be retained vs. blocked, but I think the show does a pretty good job of simply showing us. I don’t think any further exposition is really necessary.

I mean the part after the credits of this last episode was pretty much all you needed to see. You're wanting them to draw the line and that's impossible to do. Not really a plot hole at all when it would actually take a book to show where it stops and where it ends, which nobody would want.

People bitching about this show are insane. We’re like 15 episodes in. Of course all the gaps won’t be closed yet. We’re in prime question asking territory. A lot of these things may not be answered for years. Hopefully this is a 5-6 season show given the episode count.
