Also how about the sketchy situation of finding the body, that also seemed way too convenient. Like someone paid the drunk janitor to tell them where the body was.

The attorney had me rolling.

I liked Dana offering an alternative and skeptical perspective; however, her theory, as evidence of Adnan's guilt, has some major problems.
Yeah, I also read something about, in terms of mathematical probability, it's invalid.

It's selection bias. If Adnan is innocent, then of COURSE there would be a bunch of bad luck events strung together, otherwise he wouldn't be in jail and this wouldn't be the case we were talking about. This is a one in a million case. So it makes sense that there would be some one in a million bad luck events for an innocent man to get convicted.

Janitor from Woodlawn HS. I always found that to be fishy.
Interesting note: Linkin Park is where The Blair Witch Project was filmed.

why was there no DNA testing done in 1999? it was around back then and would have given a much better idea of who did it if they had found someones DNA under her finger nails.

Just finished. I will re read this thread later but real quick, did anyone remneber hearing that Hae was chasing Don around in the mall even though don still had a girlfriend? How is this not expanded upon? A jealous ex girlfriend???? Hello?!?!?
Also, I completely agree that the janitor Mr.S needs to be very closely watched.

Does anybody know the legal reasoning behind the requirement that Adnan must provide a named, alternate suspect when petitioning for the DNA to be tested? Doesn't this seem like a BS requirement given it was never tested in the first place?

One thing that really bothered me. If Adnan had some sort of support unit that would help him threaten and scare Jay into keeping quiet, then why wouldn't have just used them instead of Jay in the murder? It doesn't make sense to introduce another potential person when you have a such a trusted crew willing to help you.

I am not sure. I have worked on only one murder case where we were trying to get DNA testing during the post conviction appeals process. I don't recall having to submit this information, but this was back in 2008. The murder had taken place in 1992. The guy is still on death row.

Good point. Also why would he take the time to think up a way to ensure doesn't talk, but doesn't come up with an alibi?

Just finished and still can't believe the cops never followed up on the phantom phone booth that in episode 11 may or may not have existed
it didn't exist. they even looked at old blueprints and had multiple people who had sex/shop lift from there say there was no phone booth or pay phone
i mean how do you not look into that???

Jay From Serial Is Apparently Ready to Talk
quote:
Writer Kelly Oxford first tweeted the screenshot from a man going by the name "Slim Wilds" on Christmas Eve, though Oxford's connection to Serial or Jay is unclear. Episode eight of Serial's first season (which just wrapped) was devoted to host Sarah Koenig attempting to track down and finally speak with Jay. Koenig and her producer were able to find him, but he declined to be recorded for the podcast.

I'd be wanting to call out Sarah Koenig too. She's so easily sold by Adnan that it made me lose respect for her. I like the show and I think she's really, really good at it, but she sounds like Adnan's teenage girlfriend, not an investigative reporter/host.

It seemed that way at times, but I found she kind of cleared herself in the last episode.
Supposedly, Adnan, Jay, and Rabia were all unhappy with the podcast so that right there tells me she did her job.
