Dang.. coming from a Kamala Harris supporter that’s a pretty bad review

It's difficult to believe the same actor has now played Bruce Springsteen and Kerry Von Erich.
For those who don't know, Kerry was a pro wrestler who stood roughly 6'4" tall and weighed nearly 270 lbs., with a physique that rivaled Arnold Schwarzenegger's.

I enjoyed the movie. It was well written and well acted. It was kind of slow and since it focused on the writing and producing of an album there were not as many fun music scenes with a singer rocking a crowd as we usually get in a music movie.
As far a Bruce himself I greatly dislike his politics but he doesn’t hide the fact he is not a working man. He has a live album where he spends five minutes questioning how he became a symbol of hard working people when he has never worked a day in a real job and was thinking of going to law school if his music career didn’t work out.
The movie avoids politics and manages to go the entire movie without taking a shot at Trump or the right half of Americans.
The dude who plays Bruce and the Bear does a great job of playing conflicted, sad guys and he nailed it.

I saw it Friday and really liked it. I think JAW was very good but he doesn't disappear into the role or anything and he does his own singing. I am a Bruce fan and a Nebraska fan and read the book last week. I'm not sure the appeal for a non Bruce fan and it's not a typical jukebox musical, outside of Born to Run and Born in the USA it's basically all songs from Nebraska.
I did like it better than A Complete Unknown but think Chalamet was a better Dylan than JAW was Bruce.

Wasn't this movie set in the early 80's? Why would it focus on politics or Trump?

He's always pretended to be a salt of the Earth working Joe. Him playing like he didn't embrace and promote that image is disingenuous asf.

I also found it very boring, I guess I was expecting something to match the Bob Dylan movie, but it was nowhere close

Sounds like the Bob Dylan one. Just because someone has some good songs doesn't mean we need a biopic about them.
That's my thing with this. Who the hell is excited about a Springsteen biopic??

But you can't tell the truth yet, as BS, his 1st manager, and 2nd manager are all still alive,

Dewey Cox destroyed any chance of these type of movies being interesting for me. It’s so hard to take them seriously.

Music bio pics try way way too hard to make the subject look like this extremely important, profound, history altering person.

Biopics in general are meh at best. 9 times out of 10 I’d have rather just watched a documentary on the artist.

Does he turn into a crazy liberal at the end of the movie like in real life?

Yes. He turns into Megan Rapino and leads the US women to a world cup title.

The Dylan biopic was very good and interesting. I’m skeptical of this one …
yeah...Dylan was a transformative artist that defined a generation. Springsteen is, well...a so-so musician from Jersey

Just got back and I thought it was decent as far as biopics go. I still stand by what I said earlier.. I can't see the appeal to a non-fan... It was a very specific ~ year or so in his life...
I thought one of the most interesting thing about the book was the time they spent and technical details about trying to transfer the original cassette to vinyl and all the challenges with it... but that wouldn't make a good movie, I get it! Also the fact that someone on the brink of becoming a global star would choose the route he took for that record, when he basically had everything from Born in the USA in the can... I love that he stood by his decision for no singles, no tours and no press.. his time was coming in the next couple of years...

Zero interest now that he's gotten old and commie. Pass.
