I think a lot of his "gotcha" moments are simply people agreeing with the crazy person, which is what people do. You agree with the crazy person so he doesn't stab you. But he says something vile and racist, the person agrees not out of conviction but out of ease, and Cohen uses that as proof that the person is racist. It's dishonest and mean spirited.

there is a lot of honesty that comes out, though. you're dealing with a very small niche of people he's dealt with
he does try too hard now b/c he has a name/face, but he still hits. like the parents trying to get their babies in commercials in bruno
now i will admit i do laugh at some of his pure troll moments, like the end of bruno (gay makeout at the MMA event in alabama, which causes one audience member to freak out so much he cries)

That was in Arkansas in the town I'm living in now and people still use that as their claim to fame here. "Uh I was at dat cage fight when borat had gay sex in front of us and made everyone mad"
and I love SBC. I tend to think that the people that don't like him usually take themselves too seriously.

Seacrest is a class act and at the top of his game. He handled it perfect.

I don't give a crap about Seacrest one way or the other. He's got a gig and he does it well enough.
Cohen is a talented guy, but sometimes he pushes it past the point where it would be cool to push the envelope too far. If you know what I mean. He actually becomes a little embarrassing and it reeks of desperation. Last night was one of those moments. I like juvenile humor, but that just seemed tired and desperate. He's done it before.
But Cohen was really good in Hugo.

SBC just brings out the worst in sub-cultures of society. Frat boys, racists, rednecks, awful parents, etc.
I think he has done some incredibly brilliant social criticism that he presents in a unique, comedic fashion.
People that don't like him are probably just pissed because someone they relate to in his movies was mocked.
And he is actually a good actor and performer as well. See Hugo, Sweeney Todd, and the upcoming Queen movie where he plays Freddie.

I could care less about Seacrest or Cohen or the Oscars, but come on SBC. Dude is there to do a job on camera at an event. To frickup a guys suit who has to be on camera and with little time to now find a new suit to change into was pretty pathetic. Seacrest handled it alot better than i would have, basically don't frick with a man trying to do his job, frick with him afterwards if you have to.

I love this type of dimestore psychology. Its the old "Do you still beat your wife" question. I don't like mean spirited humor like SBC, so I must be a racist since he's apparently made fun of racists before right?
