There’s a theory/rumor that the doll on the Island of Misfit Toys that looks completely normal is there because she’s suffering from some kind of mental illness. The reason being one of the writers had a daughter dealing with it and used this as way to express what was going on through symbolism because it was taboo to talk about such things back then.

Same here, used to watch it on the boomerang app with my kids, but they removed it so we've had to watch shitty youtube feeds last year. Stumbled across the Specials on prime the other day and we immediately watched lol.

During the end credits when the elf is tossing the misfit toys out of Santa's bag, All of the toys get an umbrella to float down with except the bird that cant fly (he swims). He gets tossed out of the sleigh without anything.

I think it's more than that. I think the producer has stated on record that she was suffering from depression for being abandoned by her owner.
