BB-8
Basically a rolling Deus Ex Machina plot device.

That little droid can do everything including:

Driving an AT-ST
Defeating, handcuffing, and knocking out guards

Which is sad because originally I REALLY liked him in TFA.

The fricking jokes. My god. Why does every scene need a joke? It ruined so many great scenes. Because of them, by the time you get to the supposedly high tension showdown with Kylo and Luke, there is no tension.

Hell, Rian Johnson said he knew the movie would be dark and wanted to add humor, but he put so much humor in it that it removed all tension and it wasn’t dark at all.

Rose...worthless absolutely awful character.

Holdo’s plan was retarded. She killed everyone, not Poe.

The movie had so much potential and some actually good scenes buried beneath crap.

The “diversity” stuff people keep bringing up can be completely ignored.

And Mary Poppins Organa was just awful.

You forgot to add how Luke "Just for Men" Skywalker looked for the "battle" with Kylo.

What the frick is R2s problem btw?

Even when he gets back to Luke he just stays in the ship.

Can old man R2 still fly around? If not, he'd have a hard time getting around on Ahch-To.

But that wasn't the full piece to the puzzle though.

I don't get your reasoning. Leia were given this map that didnt show up on any of their data systems. So somebody other than them created it.

So when they got that map, it had this chunk carved out of it. And their systems didn't recognize that this part of the universe existed. Suddenly R2 has comes up with the exact shape of the missing part of the map from his database. But his database hasn't been accessed since Luke left?

So someone created this map, while also being able to delete its existence from all the databases of the entire galactic computer systems. And also cut out a chunk that was stored inside R2, a droid that never left Lukes side, until Luke abandoned him. And then that map creator gave the larger section of the map to someone who was a family friend of the Skywalkers, who was to see that it be used when Luke was needed desperately

I mean, 1 + 1 has to equal 2

Lukes location
Lukes droid
Family friend of Luke
Ability to delete data of differing systems all at once (powerful force user)
Luke in hiding, without anyone locating him to be able to even construct such map

I mean most people didn't know he went into hiding, or even think he was real.

There was a good movie buried deep inside this one. Believe it or not, Benecio Del Toro kind of lit the path for a truly darker and "different" Star Wars movie.

Yeah, you can definitely see that if you examine the film closely. Finn calls these rich people "bad", echoing Rose's comments; but Toro pulls up the shipping manifest, and lo and behold, there are X Wings. The makers aren't good or bad, they're just filling orders.
The leaders of the Resistance are not admirable people; Purple is snide and incompetent, and keeps people out of the loop when the need is there to work together. Leia is... still Leia, but she's also sliding into some bitchiness. (slap) I told you not to do that... even though we really had no other plan and were going to all die right then.
And nobody came to their rescue. Not one fricking wing of fighters showed up. Not even a response of "sorry dude, tough luck".

Wonder if Del Toro thought his role was different, when he filmed it? It all got lost in the constant henpecking.

only problem with this is that Han and Leia treat Rey as a perfect stranger

Han had a one night stand after breaking up with Leia. Problem solved. He has no force powers so he wouldn't sense a connection.

I have no doubt that JJ had Luke go to the island to learn more about the Jedi to learn from his mistakes and grow as a Jedi. Rian, on the other hand...

No where in the movie does it say Luke created the map.

They were looking for him. They thought he went off to the first jedi temple which he did. Lor San Tekka had what they believed to be the full map, it wasn't. R2 had the other part. He got it from loggining into the death star in a new hope. It's the same piece the first order had that kylo mentioned from the empires archive.

Luke didn't create the map.

There are problems and questions with the whole thing that even goes back to the force Awakens.

Benicio's character was actually interesting, he was just buried in the terrible Casino plot.

Agree, he was interesting but obvious. There are to many characters in this new trilogy. None of them have had enough screen time to develop.

If you desperately need something, just get arrested. You'll find what you need in prison.
