I guess someone at Disney wasn't comfortable lighting $250 million on fire. I was sort of looking forward to seeing how bad this was gonna be.

They have announced and cancelled three times as many Star Wars projects as they have produced.

Poor Daisy Ridley. She made Rey a likeable character and she could have been good but Rey was written by hackneyed retards.

I feel genuinely bad for most of that cast. Force Awakens started everything off pretty solid with likeable characters that made sense, and the actors all seemed super excited about being a part of it.

Then...the empire struck back.

Yes 100%. I loved TFA. Then it just fell off a cliff and nothing and I mean nothing was going to save the franchise after the next movie and Luke’s treatment. Shame. Bc I have no desire to see another Star Wars movie in theaters. Oh well Disneys loss - not mine lol

I don’t know anything about Star Wars, was she supposed to be like Luke’s kid or something?

There's a follow up article in that tweet saying it's still going. And Ridley has been quoted recently about how the change in direction with the character got her on board with this.

That would have been a better story.

But no. She's unrelated to any Skywalker, Organa, or anyone in the family tree.

I'm hindsight, maybe not. But when it came out, it was a strong showing and a solid story could have been built off of it. Almost everyone loved it, including the nerds. It wasn't perfect but it was solid.

This has me a little optimistic because she wasn’t particularly happy with how Rian Johnson did things or how episode 9 ended up

IGN article today

quote:

Speaking to AlloCiné, Ridley teased a little more about her new film, which is directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and tells the story of Rey Skywalker as she tries to rebuild the Jedi Order 15 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker.

"Once I knew what the story was and everything, I knew that it was something I really wanted to do," Ridley said of her casting. "I think it's a really fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world. It's a really cool way of taking the story on in a bit of a different direction."

That makes me nervous but if that direction is different than the sequels then I support it. I would still rather they not do anything
