Is this the movie that the sexist female director was supposed to make? The video that was making the rounds the last few weeks of her saying that she wanted to make men uncomfortable?
I'd like to see this

I was just hoping to find out that thing that Finn had to tell Rey

Almost everyone loved it

I watch and enjoy way more terrible movies than anyone. The the force awakens was not good. Not the actors fault, just is what it is. We all wanted it to be good. We still trusted that it would be good. It wasn’t. The truth is, it just was not bad enough to destroy all the good will of the franchise. It certainly did not create any, which it turns out they really needed.

Still amazed at how some folks in the movie business want to use a space fantasy /action movie and a conduit to make statements on perceived social injustices. It’s even more amazing that corporate executives allow them to do so in a manner that changes the “formula” of a trillion dollar property. Mark Hamill tells a funny story that took place during early production of ANH. He came from a dramatic acting background and was unsure of how to play Luke. He asked H Ford if he should play Luke a certain way. Ford looked at him and said “it ain’t that kind of movie kid”. This franchise has always been a movie to entertain fans , not a dramatic masterpiece or social statement. I guess they didn’t learn from losing 40% of their stock value in the last 2 years.
It’s the off chance some kid grows up and glues their hand to a tarmac.

KK must have her own Epstein style list of Hollywood execs

It was competent and did what it set out to do. It felt like Star Wars. There was still plenty to explore after TFA and it was taken in the worst possible direction in TLJ. It made $2B on the backs of many who rewatched it. I saw it 3 times in the theater. TLJ and TRoS didn’t approach it.

I think it was the other way around.

I kind of feel bad for Daisy Ridley. Thought her big break was going to be legendary in its size. She towed the company line, and did her best in some awful movies. And now all she is known for is being the lead actor in the movies that have greatly diminished the cultural value of a once universally cherished IP.

No it didn't
I'm hindsight, maybe not. But when it came out, it was a strong showing and a solid story could have been built off of it. Almost everyone loved it, including the nerds. It wasn't perfect but it was solid.
No
Everyone was excited that A NEW Star Wars film was made, and the kids who grew up watching Clone Wars on Cartoon Network were so giddy that they overlooked 95% of the crap, simply because they finally had "their" live-action Star Wars movie.
Long-time fans of the material weren't thrilled with JJ's "lensflares are cool" approach, just like he had done to Star Trek. They definitely didn't appreciate the Millennium Falcon sitting in a junkyard, Han Solo being a deadbeat dad and bum, and certainly not him getting killed off unceremoniously; if you're intent on doing that, let him go out in a blaze of glory. It's Han fricking Solo.
Not to mention nobody understood why Leia was leading "the Resistance", and the guys seemingly in charge were Stormtroopers and TIE Fighters... cuz last we checked, the Rebellion had won the fricking war. Killed the Emperor, people were dancing in the streets on Coruscant.
Leia, Han and Luke were supposed to be leading the New Republic, Luke reforming the Jedi Order and hitching up with Mara Jade.
Dealing with Grand Admiral Thrawn and eventually the extra-galactic threat of the Yuuzhan Vong.

*Rey Palpatine. Her calling herself Rey Skywalker would be like Hitler’s grandkid calling himself Adolph Churchill after WWII ended
