kinda excited..

quote:

In fact, Scott Foundas of Variety gives World War Z a wholly positive review, calling it "surprisingly smart, gripping and imaginative" and praising Pitt and director Marc Forster:

"Moreover, the director always keeps the movie rooted in a compelling dramatic situation, with Pitt giving a very appealing turn as the seen-it-all veteran of the world’s worst places whose desire to protect his family trumps his desire to save the world."

That can't be true, the movie had production problems and a delayed release date. The interweb has already deemed it a colossal failure, so it has no chance of being watchable.

Doesn't sound anything like the book.

I just don't see how a book like that is going to work as a film that isn't a doc style deal...interviews and whatnot..

Conflicting views on the Internet...I don't know what to think.

I haven't read the book yet but I will after I see the movie. 10/10 times the book is always better so this way I won't be looking at it through a reader's eyes but just a person looking for a decent action movie with zombies and a huge budget. After I read it then I can appreciate it for what they both are.

They shouldn't have titled this world war z.

No way you can do the source material any justice with the focus on one guy.

WORLD WAR Z’s zombies have a very different purpose than the movie Zombies we have known for so long. These are just fast zombies, they’re utterly psychotic in their purpose. This purpose isn’t to eat your brains or feast on the meat of your body… They do not rip out entrails. No, they bite and release, moving on to the next victim. They’re about reproduction of their species. When all visible viable Zombie material is converted, they move on or go into a dormant state waiting stimuli that indicates more host organisms… us.

say what?....

Sort of like the "zombies" in I Am Legend. They weren't so much zombies as they were "infected", but they stayed dormant until they found something to attack.

Yeah. It worked in 28 Days Later too. WWZ may be a decent movie but frick them for using the World War Z title and not doing the book justice.

They have Brad Pitt starring for Gods sake. You don't need the book title for ticket sales when you have Brad Pitt. This movie could be called "Zombies shite On My Waffle" and it still would make bank.

I don't get why people get so bent out of shape about books versus movies. If you read the book, you have that in your head. Every person has their version of the book in their head, and every person probably has a different vision. So, just keep that stashed away and enjoy the movie for what it is.

Books aren't movies. Movies aren't books.

You're normally right but, just from what we've seen already and knowing the format of your typical film, this movie will be quite a divergence from the book.

Look. If its getting solid reviews, I'll go see it and if its good, I'll say so. I'm just not happy that now we won't see a badass HBO series or something using the WWZ material now.

Thought it was entertaining. Anyone who read the book shouldn't be expecting anything remotely similar.

I'm personally excited about the movie and have gotten over the whole transition of zombie type that's going to be presented in the movie.. The book was a fun read, a historical documentary style book that would be extremely hard to reproduce and with diffuculty replicating the fear. I'm just excited to see something a little different with a world view versus a singular geographic and political viewpoint.

I understand those lamenting the facts of the obvious differences between the book and the movie. I'm just hoping they incorporate Pitt as the writer of the book, focusing on the the stories across the world even with him present.

Entertaining is all I'm looking for. Read the book recently and it didn't blow me away like Game of Thrones did. I even got more entertainment out of The Walking Dead comics than World War Z book form. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but I didn't get obsessed with it like those other two.
