He’s nuts, but I have a ton of respect for him. He works his tail off to entertain the world without trying to shove his politics down our throats.

I don't know about most likeable...but I didn't know he did this MTV show in character, and that's funny as hell.

I do agree with this assessment. He's probably the biggest and most RELIABLE movie start of my generation. His batting average on watchable, entertaining, high quality movies is very high.

I just wish he'd taken more chances. He should have won several oscars and was ignored.

Aside from his rant on the set of Maverick during COVID, I've heard nothing but good things about him behind the scenes and off-set. People love working with/for him.

That wasn't even a bad thing, TBH. He blew up for folks not taking stuff seriously in a time when lots of folks were out of work and here they were making a freaking MOVIE. For a guy willing to hang off a plane or do a sick motorcycle stunt, it's not too much to ask that stage hands stick to doing their jobs as well.

I assume you mean via his acting, and not his stunts, right?

Jerry Maguire
Eyes Wide Shut
The Last Samurai
Collateral
Rock of Ages

He's ventured out of his comfort zone with fantastic performances, only to be ignored by the Academy.

I think he's finally taking the Burt Reynolds approach to hollywood: "frick all y'all, I'm going to have fun making movies that make money".

His insanity has probably inoculated him from all the typical Hollywood BS.

Her and the kid ran from him and the kid even got rid of his last name. That shite doesn't happen for no reason. That Xenu shite is scary and they tried to isolate them from the rest of their family. Then he responded by not wanting to have anything to do with the kid because the religion makes you drop anyone who is against them. There is a lot to lose if you get on the wrong side of Tom.
