Safe Men: pretty decent comedy with Sam Rockwell and Steve Zahn

Landmine Goes Click: pretty dark, leaves you pretty uneasy after

I’m not sure how much publicity Real Genius got when it came out, and you rarely hear it talked about as one of the 80s classics, but I will watch it any time it’s on. Great soundtrack and one of Kilmer’s best roles.

Ghost and the Darkness (1996)
Critics hated the movie, but I’ve never met someone who didn’t like it. It’s not some profound piece of filmmaking, and Kilmers accent coming and going is a bit annoying. But it’s one that I think really holds up well for being 25 years old

Pieces of April

Oliver Platt
Katie Holmes
Patricia Clarkson

Low budget film that is really good. All the actors worked for around $250 per day

The father in Breaking Away should have won an Oscar. It's one of the better comedic performances of the 70s.

It's a straight up interesting movie. Nothing else really like it. It's a weird dark comedy/horror/thriller thing with a strange american frontier/early us war feel.

Amazing movie. I actually just recorded it a week or two ago so I can watch it again since it’s been a while.

As always in these threads, my answer is Cadence. Charlie and Martin Sheen, Lawrence Fishburne (Larry back then). About a soldier (CS) in an all black barrack in a military prison. Fantastic movie.

I love this movie. I must have watched it 50 times on HBO in the late 80s when it was in the heavy rotation.

Peter Sellers won the Oscar for "Being There", so not sure how obscure it is. A bit of a classic.

City of God. Subtitles, but I really enjoyed it.
