Covid has me watching a LOT of tv since most of my hobbies (live music, drinking in bars, sports, traveling, etc) have been mostly canceled.

Some of my favorite shows I’ve watched (for the first time or new seasons) during Covid:
Bojack Horseman (nihilistic adult cartoon comedy roasting hollywood)
Letterkenny (witty canadian sitcom)
The Mandalorian (Scify western adventure in the star wars universe)
Brockmire (Nihilistic adult live action comedy roasting sports entertainment)
Turn (gripping period drama/spy show set during American Revolution)
Black Sails (Period action/adventure pirate show)
Veronica Mars (early 2000’s hs mystery show)
Mad Men (60’s period drama showing cultural changes through corporate and advertising world)
Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry David is king)
Dave (It’s the Jewish Atlanta, and has the ability to go from silly to serious real quick. Best new show of the year)
Altered Carbon (futuristic scify action/mystery. Season 2 was not as good as season 1, but still entertaining)

As for movies, I’ve mostly been watching old cult classics I’d missed completely or hadn’t seen in at least 20 years.

Kung Fu Hustle (2000’s martial arts comedy)
The Fast & the Furious (early 2000’s racing/heist film)
Dolemite is my Name (late 2010’s docudramedy about blaxploitation films)
12 Strong (late 2010’s war movie about the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan)
Joker (late 2010’s psycho/thriller/period drama)
Taxi Driver (70’s psycho triller/drama)

I also watched a bunch of classic Bond films, mostly ones from the Connery and Brosnan eras including From Russia With Love, Thunderball, Dr. No, Goldfinger, The World is Not Enough, and Tomorrow Never Dies.

I enjoyed all of these movies and tv shows, but I’m easy to please, and extremely bored.

I watched the first season of Dave over a couple of days last week. Thought it was hilarious and gutsy. A cross between Atlanta and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Started watching Broadchurch the other day and I’m really digging it. It helps that I’m a huge Doctor Who fan.

I like atmospheric horror such as Goodnight Mommy, We Are What We Are...even Picnic at Hanging Rock (which isn't really the same genre) but Midsommar was not only a rip-off of The Wicker Man (the original which didn't have the bees) but it was boring.

80% of the movie is set-up for some twist and you know all along...there wouldn't be a twist because they wouldn't have made this movie based on how boring it is.

I hate movies that have nothing to say but for setting the stage for most of the movie. It's like you just want to fast-forward because what comes before means nothing.

I like your critiquie of this. I watched the Wicker Man recently while on a Horror Binge and thought they were very similar, but definitely had many differences.

Definitely did not think Midsommar was boring. You know its not going to be a nice time for the festival goers since the movie is a horror movie, so yeah i guess you expect something bad to happen. But right when the old people start their ritual on top of the cliff, definitely had me engaged and drawn in after that. Definitely enjoyed the movie and would watch again.

Any other recs you got? Love a good horror movie and you sound like you are a connoisseur
