Anthony Anderson is the first that comes to mind.
i thought about him while typing but then i figured he'd be much better as the other role, too
if anthony anderson played the straight man, i think will smith could be the Candy role

I am OK with this right up until they use the plot device of them not being able to do something because they are two black guys and racism. That will be the cheap BS way out and will ruin it.

Agreed unfortunately. Again given the current Hollywood climate, they almost have to include a racist interaction when it’s two black men driving across country. Movie might have a hard time getting made otherwise.

Internet, cell phones, etc. all take away a lot of the situational comedy that the original had.
I agree, but I'm sure they can figure out ways around it.
Due Date was basically the same story in the modern day.

Keegen Michael Key would be better than Will Smith

So, in the world of wokeness, we need a classic movie remade because God forbid it had 2 white guys as the stars?

I'm trying to think of a black actor who can play the wholesome, but kind of a sleezeball (who we ultimately find out is hiding something) role.
Sterling K. Brown? Has become reliable as a heavy or the straight man, but can be very funny.

Not going to lie, if it were Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart or Jack Black and was written and directed by any of the people that have done his movies in the last few years, I’d be all for it.
But this just sounds dookie.

I thought the same thing.
Will Smith used to be the most bankable Hollywood star, there was a time when basically everything he did was going to make money and be at least decently well received. The Rock has fully taken over that mantle.

I actually think Will Smith would be perfectly capable of playing that type of role. I just don't like the Kevin Hart casting.

How does this ruin the original movie?

This anecdotal example is not representative of remakes vs. originals in general. It's always going to be an issue of which rights are cheaptest in combination with keeping your catalog rotation relatively current.
In the case of the former, you actually want this remake to do very well so that it's too expensive for a network to purchase for cable rotation. As for the latter, networks will always court younger audiences, so your old favorites will continue to be phased out regardless of whether or not a remake is produced.

The original being almost 50 years old and the Sandler version being commercially successful has more to do with that. Ghostbusters is on all the time including yesterday.

Has anyone gotten a public comment from Leslie Jones?

If you're going to frick up a classic, at least frick it up right. Replace Smith with The Rock and keep the Rock and Hart comedy duo going. I actually enjoy them together and think they play off each other well.
OR just don't remake this at all.
OR just don't remake this at all.

There’s probably going to be a Megabus in this one.
I’ll pass.
