As a big fan of the book, it's clear that these morons either didn't read it or don't particularly care about the source material. Wendy specifically asked why there were no girls in Peter's group. Girls can't be Lost Boys according to J.M. Barrie because they are "too clever" to fall out of their prams as infants.

The kids who saw the originals do. Kids aren't stupid. The kids who have watched the Little Mermaid or Peter Pan dozens of times know what the characters look like.

The comments on that trailer

OH I know. It's bad enough that disney just regurgitates their classics. The fact that they just try to hit quotas is even worse. You can tell by a trailer that not much thought actually went into telling a story because they wanted to showcase muh independent werman as lost "boys" and race swapped one of the most recognized disney characters outside of Mickey & Friends. Again, kids aren't stupid.

If you're raising your kids to care about the race of fictional characters, then you're already doing a terrible job parenting.

Yea, this comment from the trailer echoes that sentiment
quote:

Isn’t Wendy being the only girl in Neverland essential to a major theme of the story? The whole reason Peter takes Wendy is that he and the lost boys have no one to fill the missing feminine, maternal role in their lives, and then when she arrives the implications that has totally alter the perpetual little boy’s fantasy they were all stuck living in. Essentially it’s a metaphor for a little boy’s need for a maternal figure in youth and that changing to a need for a romantic interest when they reach puberty.

And if you raise your kids to make decisions based solely on diversity quotas, you're worse.

Then why is it so important to change books and stories if you all don't care what race they are?

You're an idiot if that's your take away. Nobody, I hope, raises their kids to care about race. You're completely ignoring the point that I was making. Disney is changing the race of a 70 year old character to hit a quota. Kids have been watching that movie for longer than I've been alive. If you're of the impression that kids are too stupid to see this, then I question if you've ever known any.

I'm not black, but I would assume they are wanting Disney to tell black stories. Not blackwash white characters and call it even. It's the lowest level of pandering and gross. They do it because they only see legitimacy in white characters. You know this is true because they apparently REFUSE to tell black stories.

So if you fall for these tricks then you're just the low IQ audience they are pandering to.
