Just finished Peaky Blinders season 1. Very pleasantly surprised.
I know I'm late to it but it was very entertaining. I hope the rest of the seasons are as good!

Buckle up for an awesome ride.
Also, put on the subtitles. You'll understand what they're saying easier and enjoy the show much more.

If you liked season 1 that much you're in for a real treat.

I'm glad to read this thread. My wife and I just finished season 2 last week and are enjoying it. I'm scared to try to read anything about it for fear of spoilers since all we know is what we watch in real time but we're excited to see how everyting plays out.
And as mentioned I can't even fathom trying to watch without subtitles. I generally HATE subtitles for any tv/movie but in this case it's a necessity.

Because of this show, we watch almost everything with subtitles now.

I can understand most of the characters, but Tom Hardy is impossible.

Yes. I couldn't understand anything he said.

There are a bunch of shows that have come out recently to 10-15 years ago (or more) that I’m not current on. I was late on PB, and it’s a great watch.

Enjoy it! One of my favorite series, before too long you'll be addicted and will be wanting to chain smoke some cigs whether you're a smoker or not

At this point, I think Hardy is just messing with us. There's no way he slurs that much naturally.

Alfie Solomons, he's a Jewish gangster. I don't think it was until season 2 he gets introduced, maybe season 3. Can't remember.

gotcha, we've finished up season 2 so I remember him.
Yeah his accent was definitely mumbled gibberish

Mental Floss-A Lot of Americans Have No Idea......
quote:
Maybe we should all be thanking Tom Hardy for helping normalize watching everything with the subtitles on.
According to a new survey from Preply, Americans have a harder time understanding the English star of Venom and Mad Max: Fury Road than any other celebrity. Hardy’s habit of unintelligibility has long been a well-documented phenomenon. As The Wrap points out, Vulture even produced a highlight reel of his best grunts, grumbles, and garbles entitled “Tom Hardy Needs To Learn How To Enunciate.”
The TV show that Americans find toughest for aural apprehension is the Cillian Murphy-starring BBC gang drama Peaky Blinders, several seasons of which also feature Hardy.

Just binged season one.
Enjoyed the heck out of it. Only six episodes, but felt like more.
On to season two.

Just make sure to monitor your whiskey intake while watching it.
