I liked it enough that I'd be interested in a sequel, just to see where Snyder was taking this universe.

The Bat nightmare scene was next level.

"Louis is the key" made no sense; neither did Martian Manhunter pretending to be Ma Kent. At least until the nightmare scene. I guess Manhunter knew that the death of Lois would trigger Superman to become an evil pawn of Darksied.

I tried to find a good picture but I ended up with the video clip.

This is spoiler ish so pass over if you’d like.

The clip is the batcave, notice the Robin memorial to the right of the frame.

Superman is holding what is left of Lois in his arms.

Good catch. I had no idea that was the Batcave.

Oh, the easter eggs are a plenty. I've been going back through for that very reason.

There were just a few small lines, certain beats that really resonated with me.

Queen Hippolyta when the motherbox goes quiet and an Amazon suggests it might have gone back to sleep:

"Evil does not sleep, it waits."

After the "There is King" mini music video after the sea rescue.

When Arthur first comes upon this part of Atlantis, the music is very Disneyesque right when he happens upon the Octopus. For that few seconds you are filled with that sense of wonder and Arthur's innocence, only to fall into that dark forboding world and Vulko's challenge.

Steppenwolf's yearning to be set free from his atonement and go home when speaking to Desaad. His eyes and emotion were well done for CGI. Ciaran Hinds did a fantastic job.

Goofy Barry smiling and running after the finale. Something about the way the character was shown made it hard to be annoyed by him this time around.

Just finished it yesterday (3 sittings). I enjoyed it way more than the original. I feel like this is how a superhero epic should be done. I realize that theatrical releases won't be 4 hours long. It would be damn hard to trim this down and still fully understand all of the back stories and some of the stuff that just felt rushed in the original. Seeing the Epilogue made me want to see Snyder make JL2. I think he was on his way to a dark and interesting universe.

I'm 2 hours and 45 minutes into it and I have some complaints but not as many as I thought I would. It's surprisingly decent. This coming from someone who hasn't enjoyed almost all of their movies. The major problems are still there, unneeded scenes, Gadot's God awful acting and a ton of slo motion...other than that it's pretty decent. Not great but good.

Also wasn’t a fan of the Amazon music or whatever every time Wonder Woman did something

I searched and found this Vanity Fair

quote:

The “key,” as Flash said to Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman, is Amy Adams’s Lois Lane. Or as the Joker puts it in a mocking sing-song in the #SnyderCut: “Poor Lois! How she suffered so!”

Lois was the charred corpse that Superman tearfully held in Cyborg’s vision from the middle of the movie.

Snyder explains how this foreshadows the next two Justice League movies he had in the works: “Darkseid comes to Earth. Superman says to Batman, ‘Guard Lois. This is a war between me and Darkseid. If you can help me as a friend, keep Lois safe.’”

In the midst of these alien attacks, Luthor aligns himself with the invader. “Lex tells Darkseid that the key to Superman’s weaknesses is killing Lois Lane,” Snyder said. “For whatever reason, Batman fails. Darkseid comes back and kills Lois. Batman fails, he hesitates. They were in an argument.”

In other words, Batman is distracted, and Lois dies as a result.

quote:

Even without this romantic subplot, Snyder said, Batman would have been plagued by guilt for not stepping in front of the blast that killed Lois. With her gone, Superman is heartbroken and loses the will to fight. Darkseid uses this moment of vulnerability to seize control of him, and Superman’s fall leads to the deaths of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and countless others.

“The world falls because Superman succumbs to the Anti-Life Equation, and that’s it,” Snyder said. “That’s what the post-apocalyptic world is: Superman just searching for Batman to kill him to get his revenge for the death of Lois.”

quote:

The filmmaker explained that the MacGuffins of the #SnyderCut—the living, all-powerful machines known as Mother Boxes—would have helped to reverse-engineer history in the final reel of his franchise. “What happens in the post-apocalyptic world is, Cyborg works on an equation to use a Mother Box to jump Flash back in time to warn Bruce about this moment, where he didn’t have the courage to sacrifice himself to save Lois,” Snyder said.

We’ve actually already seen that moment: it’s Flash’s strange portal appearance in Batman v Superman.

Once Bruce of the past realizes what he has to do, he doesn’t fall short when Lois is in danger. “So in that moment, he does the right thing and sacrifices himself,” Snyder explained.

That changes the course of everything: “Superman doesn’t succumb to the Anti-Life Equation,” Snyder said. “Then the final movie has Aquaman leading the forces of Atlantis, Diana leading forces of Themyscira, and Superman and Flash leading the forces of [humans] against Darkseid in a giant war.”

It's better than Endgame. Worse than Infinity War.

It's not a high bar. Endgame was awful. That scene between Black Widow and Hawkeye with the battle to commit suicide was one of the worst things I have ever seen.

does Darksied only get one blast? if batman steps in the way wouldn't he just go ahead and blast her after he's dust?

End Game could have used more shirt sniffing and Icelandic sea shanties.

Reminder:

The final two episodes of Superman: The Animated Series dealt with Darkseid turning Superman against Earth. It was a hell of a way to end a series and it reverberated throughout the Justice League and JLU animated series, leading up to their final battle.

No.

this is completely different

In this scenario a bald, ruggedly built galactic despot searches the universe for the key to ultimate power but a rich guy from Earth with no actual powers gets a bunch of super heroes together to fight the despot, the despot succeeds, but thanks to a little bit of time travel, the destruction is reversed and eventually the rich guy sacrifices himself for the greater good to save the planet.

Completely different.
