Figured I’d go ahead and get it going now. I’m sure the haters already have their talking points pulled up and ready to go so might as well get them out now.

ETA: it’s good. Very good.

Let’s fricking go. Very excited to see Zack’s take on these characters; he imagines them as modern day mythological Gods and I love that perspective. As in, what would really happen if these beings showed up on earth?

Going to be a busy weekend, 4 hr Justice League, Falcon/Winter Soldier.
Need to get on a rewatch of Snyder’s DC films.
Pretty cool.

I know it gets hated on a lot, but one of my favorites movies is Man of Steel. The coming of age, losing your dad, and struggling to find your place in the world hit me in the feels because I relate to it quite a bit

Yeah I enjoyed it too, save for some minor nitpicks. It was nice to see Superman past the Smallville years but before he was truly Superman. What’s weird is that it followed the formula for the superhero origin almost to a t and yet people bitched about it because they didn’t make it cheesy. I’m not saying Superman should be Logan, but he doesn’t need to be Paw Patrol either.

I’ve never understood the issues with Man of Steel. BvS? Sure. JL? Ok. Man of Steel was legitimately good though.

You must have a short memory. The issue people had with MoS was it was “a bad Superman movie”. Which over the years I’ve come to understand their gripe.

If I'm remembering correctly, the biggest beef was Superman killing Zod. It was seen as a massive frick up to have Superman kill.

You guys are weird. I like superhero movies. I want them all to be good. I can want that, even hope for it, and still make fun of Snyder for being a hack

I like MOS. It does a lot of things right.

Krypton
Origin story via flashbacks
Superman truly powerful
Real stakes
Perfect Superman casting (Cavill)

The misses

Amy Adams as Lois didn't do it for me.

The destruction could have been dialed back by about 30%

Killing Zod didn't bother me. He left him no choice as it was clear he would continue to menace the planet and the option of sending him to the Phantom Zone was no longer there.

I get the bitching about the trucker, but the interaction implied this wasn't the first time and that he was a consistent a-hole (not a guy just having a bad day). So frick him.

I'm personally excited about this movie. Although 4 hours is a long time to watch a movie, so I'll probably have to watch over a span of 2 days.

Gonna watch it in 30 minute installments on my lunch break in the home theater next week. Low expectations.

1.5 hours in... significantly better than the original JL

Some of the Supes fanboys were appalled that Superman would actually fight Zod in a populated area and cause collateral damage; thus risking innocent lives. They assured us a real Superman story would neeeeeeeever commit this abhorrent sin against the Superman mythos.

That damned Snyder just doesn't understand the character!!!
