So was their any audience clapping involved during the movie?

Not reading past the OP. Got tickets for tonight.

Mine did at the very end. Same for Mav's deus ex machina when he's on the ground in the snow.

that intro song (not Danger Zone) really slaps you with that '80s beat. it could probably be the theme of the '80s.
When the opening credits started and the original intro song came in and the bells started going on, I had the biggest grin on my face. I was all in from the word go

I wouldn't have minded if they wanted to do some variations on Faltermeyer's TG Anthem, but hearing the deep bells at the beginning with the intro was goosebump central.

I squealed. I loved that they did the same intro and font.
I went with a friend who hadn't seen the first one (I know, I'm not sure why we are friends either) but she was able to follow along and got into it as well. She really liked it and said "I think I'll watch the first one now, but not tonight b/c I feel like it will be too emotional"
My husband wanted to go but had already planned to meet a friend that is in town (we moved away and live in a vacation spot so try to meet up with friends when they are here) and he canceled late on him. He was annoyed. I told him we can go see it in IMAX together. I can't wait.
I did have to giggle a bit at the Tom Cruise running scenes though

Massive launch for #TopGunMaverick with $19.26M from previews held on THU and before. New all-time biggest preview record for Paramount & biggest ever for Memorial Day holiday wknd. Huge FRI/SAT/SUN/MON ahead with broad appeal. #TopGun #boxoffice $AMC #LadyGaga #TomCruise

40+ years in the biz and #TomCruise is right now having by far the biggest opening wknd of his whole career with #TopGunMaverick. Only twice has he broken $60M on opening FRI-SUN: War of the Worlds ($64.9M, 2005) & MI:Fallout ($61.2M, 2018). New #TopGun will fly past that tomm!

This movie opens 100% like the first one.
Does the yellow jersey deck crewman do the leg kick though?

I hear that watching it at home is a much better experience than watching it in theaters anyway so you probably didn’t miss anything
Oh it is. You should try it. Movie theaters are so 2019.

Saw it last night. I bought tickets for tomorrow when I got home. That's how good it is.
I got chills on several occasions, but none more than when I heard "talk to me goose"...

Such a fun movie nothing else to say. The story and the mission is better than the first

Saw it this morning too.
Very well done and perfect mix of nostalgia , story and action. Lots of great call backs and the flight sequences were unbelievable.
My only tiny critique has already been mentioned …. if Maverick was a real character you’d have to think he’d be a hero in the aviation community that everyone would instantly recognize.
I’ll definitely go see this one again.

Everybody was a dick in the movie.
The Hangman character in particular had a slappable face.
