eta: there are a couple of guys in the intro that kinda do a handshake and a "jig" that might be rememberable in the future.

This guy cracks me up every time in the original

You would think following the destruction of the Death Star there would have been an effort re-think ventilation systems. The Achilles heal for decades has been ventilation systems, I hope US military designers aren’t asleep at the wheel.

This film is the perfect summer blockbuster.
This. Everything about it was great as they hit all the buttons. All. Of. Them.

A good movie, but it won't be as respected as the first by pilots.
WGAS. There are 7+ billion people on this planet. How many are top gun fighter pilots that that have a side job as a respected movie critic?

It really did and what I think is appealing to a lot of people is you didn’t have to watch 5 other movies to understand what was going on. No multi-verses, crossovers, or post-credit scenes to worry about.

Just watched it. I thought it was good but I must say, one thing bugged the frick out of me. We are gonna launch enough missiles to take out an airfield but not the dozen SAM locations? Regardless, fun movie and Dolby is the only way to see it.

Good point. How about we crater the runway in 6 places and use the other 36 Tomahawks to take out the SAMS??

Also, nice user name.

why couldn't they use them after for support?

Because they didn't have an available 12,000' runway, an O Club and a golf course???

Good solid fun

One of my favorite parts is when Ice asks Maverick who was the best pilot, and they just look at each other not saying a word/smiling. Even at the end they were competitive. Lol

Just got back. Loved it was just entertainment without being preachy. That is what I want to just be entertained.

My dad refuses to see it because of a female pilot. I told him he is being dumb, and you barely notice. I thought it was awesome.

The thing I most appreciated (besides the awesome flying/dogfights) - they didn't try and give a backstory on the bartender/daughter. Was the kid Maverick's? Maybe. Who cares?

There was a line early in the movie when the daughter says her dad is in Hawaii.

The only thing that bothered me was the Darkstar breaking up at Mach 10. Unless the cockpit was an escape capsule like in the B-58, there is no chance that Maverick would survive a Mach 10 ejection. He would have been torn apart.

He would have been supremely disappointed at the pilots at the NOLA airshow then. Females were flying the F35 and F18 for sure, probably others as well.

And they said he was the fastest man ever, but the space shuttle on reentry is way faster.

That was somewhat told in the original movie.

Loved the movie and as others mentioned great summer blockbuster. The previews for some of the other upcoming movies were bad.

But damn, the movie should get the most basic military details right.

While I do agree with you it's not like the original movie had it all right either.
There is, nor ever has been, a "Top Gun " trophy
