It wasn't great, but for me it's going to be hard to top last season's finale as the weakest.

How? Because of the cliffhanger?

I don't mind those as much. I do mind endless bullet machines and wasting half the show with stupid flashbacks of Abe and Sasha and Maggie just sitting there.

I mean. Did they think they were gonna surprise us with Sasha dying? It was telegraphed.

I knew within the 1st 5 seconds that she was gonna commit suicide with the pill from Eugene

So you're telling me when this episode started, Negan was preparing to march into Alexandria and fight/punish Rick & Co., and we finished the episode with Negan preparing to march into Alexandria...

I need to watch it again but where did the Kingdom force come from? Did they teleport inside of the walls? I thought there was only one entry point. Didn't the GPK have men at the entrance.

Didn't they mention a back entrance or tunnel that Sasha or someone had created an episode or 2 ago?

This show has become like the more recent Fast & Furious movies. I stopped looking at what is/is not plausible, and just enjoy the action. When you start looking critically is when it starts to suck. Also I like that we've started abbreviating with GPK. I dig it.

looked like a GI toy soldier that said something like " I didn't know." Im guessing its from Dwight.

I missed this too but I think it was talked about a few pages back. I can't remember who, but I remember one of Rick's group having this figurine at one point. Completely missed that something was written on it. I really hope Dwight didn't play them like the GPK.

That's why it's pretty pointless to engage someone who has made their mind up over a belief that "nothing has happened to move the plot along" or similar beliefs. No matter what is pointed out that happened they will either a) minimize it, b) rationalize it, or c) say it was a bad move.

The guy is entitled to his opinion. If he feels nothing happened in the show for him, then nothing happened in the show for him.

I enjoyed things like seeing (and hearing) Abe again, seeing Negan grow suspicious of Eugene over Sasha's means of death; seeing Dwight's triple agent routine (and as its been shown Dwight is adept at setting people up, I have to wonder if he won't use that skill against Eugene); seeing Michone pretty much meet her match in the badass department; watching Morgan seem to find a medium between ultra pacifist and crazy man; watching Rick go all "I don't care what you do, I'm gonna kill you all" mode and a bunch of small stuff like that,.

It looks like Ezekiel is pretty much the most competent leader on the show.

Wouldn't have cared and I actually like eugenes character

So the kingdom drives a truck to the meets, but they walk all the way to Alexandria? Plus he only brought 10-15 people? I'm guessing the hilltop people drove, but how did they all get there at the same time? I just hate coincidences like that and convenient plot devices to build suspense.

I wish they would give us a map or just tell us where all these communities are in relation to one another. Eugene said it was a few hours drive. That could be anywhere from 60-150 miles away, depending on the roads and all. Plus I'd love to know what the numbers are now. They could cover all this through normal dialogue or throw away conversations.

Not a bad episode, but some of the holes are getting huge and they waste so much time. I hope it gets better, but this type of world building is tough to accomplish. Its too many balls to juggle and I feel for the writers. I'm kind of excited for next season, but I don't have the highest expectations..

Aside from Negan, Eugene has the best one liners of any character. I'd miss him for sure.

I thought for sure he was going to shoot Eugene
and I would have liked it

I thought he went ahead by himself for some reason
that whole sequence was well done

The entirety of last season's finale was awful. The cliffhanger was just the icing on the cake. It was a great season overall, and the finale was a huge black eye on it.

I just have to suspend my disbelief on this. They have to have bullets if they're going to have huge battles. At least it made sense in this episode. Rick and the gang had just stolen an entire armory from the lady group.

This stuff is totally boring to me. I didn't like it when they did it with Tyrese, and I didn't like it this time either.

I figured she was dead the minute she ran into Negan's compound. It was all just a matter of how.

People hating on the show act like TWD invented the season ending cliffhanger.

I am not so disappointed in the finale as the complete season this spring. Basically, nothing happened. Other than being captured, the group is right where it was last season

It was basically a waste of time this season. Nothing really happened..

Hopefully, they will turn it around this fall

There's just no excuse for the cliffhanger from last season. It was completely pointless, and actually detracted from the show overall. By the time the first episode of this season came around, it was almost impossible to discuss Walking Dead online without figuring out that Abe and Glenn were getting the bat. You didn't even have to really look for it. That was a completely foreseeable scenario, too. They made the experience worse for every fan.

ETA: I'm not sure what we're looking for in a "bad cliffhanger," but this seems like last season's finale absolutely fits the definition. I'm shocked that there is anyone who is happy or okay with how that was handled.

at some point they'll need to move off the reliance on vehicles and gasoline, pre ZA bullet supplies, canned goods, etc. maybe they'll jump forward like they did after the zombie invasion of Alexandria

right now it's a plot device but that stuff should be getting really scarce by now

I will agree that the season was pretty boring. However the one thing that it did accomplish was taking Rick from a defeated little girl back to bad arse. He knows what Negan is capable of, and he no longer gives a shite. If they'll pick up right where they left off in October, and just really get after it, there is a lot of potential for awesomeness.

Plus… It's always a little entertaining to me to hear people talk about suspension of disbelief regarding a show about dead people walking the earth.

once you set the stage there have to be rules for world building that make sense
I.e.: gasoline...it has a very limited shelf life and no new gas is being refined
it's really not that hard to plot around that rather than ignore it

I'm not bitter, just having a discussion on my opinion of this finale.

I said my opinion, another posted disagreed, and here we are.

About someone who has the opposite opinion as I do. So...
