So what was Finn going to tell Rey?

That he is force sensitive.

That was very obvious, especially after my 2nd viewing.

You’d figure she could sense that.

I watched at 2am so I’m a little fuzzy at parts, but did we ever get the third lesson from TLJ?

He was obviously force sensitive.

Assuming Rey continues the ways of the Jedi, she will have to train others, which means eventually someone will be seduced by the dark side, and round and round we go.

As long as ppl are using the force it is inevitable that the dark side will seduce some, in fact I’m pretty sure in some EU stuff Luke quit training for awhile bc of this. Some of that is in the Kylo storyline for why Luke hid on the island

The biggest wtf moment for me was when Rey healed the snake thing.

I don’t take any of the Star Wars movies too seriously so I can overlook some of the other silly things.

You have 2 really good movies out of 9 and 1 really bad one. The others I’ll say are entertaining enough to rewatch, nothing great.

Force healing is 100% canon. Just not used much in the movies. But it is used throughout the EU

Has anyone mentioned the girl shooting down a spaceship with a bow and arrow yet? There was a lot of stupid in this movie and I think that may have been overlooked.

So didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. Stuff was happening can’t say I really cared about it. Somewhat salvaged the mess left.

Sooo has the prophecy basically been rendered incorrect?

The EU, you mean "Legends?"
This ability was first seen in the Mandalorian season 1 episode 7.

Anybody feel like the ending would have been a bit better if Rey died and Ben survived?

Then he goes off on a vision quest to rediscover who he is as a Jedi

It certainly would have added something suprising and emotional to the story...something this movie really lacked imo.

I enjoyed it. I rewatched all 8 of the films in the weeks ahead of this release. Man, the prequels were just awful. I thought they were bad way back when they were released, and that sentiment stood up after a second viewing (yes I only watched the prequel trilogy once, and in theaters).

Best scene was the Han/Ren "Dad..." "I know..." - really hit the feels with that

I also really liked the Sith Rey scene. She would've made a badass Empress Palpatine.

I was conflicted too about whether Ben Solo should survive. I think it was best he died, similar to why Vader had to die - way too much baggage. Murdering arguably the most beloved character of the SW franchise (who also happens to be your dad) is irredeemable.

Leia's story arc closure was pretty good considering what Abrams had to work with.

I almost walked out of the theater when I thought they killed off Chewie.

Nerd level 10 fanboys expect way too much from these films. Sure some opportunities were missed but overall I thought it was a good final entry into the Star Wars franchise and better than I expected after TLJ.

I said before I’d love to see JJs outline for the trilogy. There’s not a shot in hell Johnson gets his own trilogy after what he’s said about the fans of the IP. That guy can kiss my arse.

After seeing the final movie, I think it was followed, in the broadest sense.

You had Kylo Ren talking to Darth Vader in TFA, that never made any sense at all. Anakin's Force ghost would have told him to suck it up and follow the Light Side. That was clearly an easter egg pointing to deception at the highest level.

In TLJ, at the basic level, you have Luke withdrawn from the overall conflict; you have Rey being seduced by the Dark Side- the cave scene wasn't offensive and seemed to offer her answers; you have the weird Forcetime stuff between Rey and Kylo.

Lucas, in a documentary discussing the OT, said the 2nd act needed to be the darkest act, and put things in serious jeopardy. Then, the 3rd act is the desperate heroic rally.
Now, he meant that for the protagonists, not the actual franchise and fan base...

But I wonder if JJ told Rian to take things to a bad spot, and Rian said "um, OK, you asked for it" and basically threw a grenade into the room.
Remember, a lot of TLJ "looked good", it was just damn dysfunctional; and that dysfunction was in-universe. It wasn't poorly made, it was just so infuriating and disgusting to watch what they were doing, on purpose. Not only did the heroes get their asses kicked, but you didn't want them to win or live after awhile... and btw neither did the rest of the galaxy. No help from anyone else. Rose prattling along, but then Del Toro's character quietly points out that the Resistance is buying from the same arms merchants as the First Order. Holdo being a count to Poe, and then her decisions lead to the death of 90% of the Resistance. We spent so much time hating these characters that maybe we didn't notice, but the movie didn't like them either.

But Rian's reactions after the fact, he isn't ready for this stage. He could have made it so much better if he stayed quiet and simply, smugly said "let's see how they get out of this mess".
And clearly, Rey needed to obviously fail somewhere. If she had been the reason most of the Resistance died (unable to save them), or something like that- this current movie would have been so much better.

No. Anakin was not the chosen one. He was created by Palpatine to exploit the Jedi's false belief in a dumb prophesy to infiltrate and destroy the Jedi.

He was necessary to bring down the (stagnant and out of touch) Jedi, and via his offspring, the Sith-
He, Luke and Ben were instrumental in not just the defeat of Palpatine in the OT, but of the final elimination of the Sith sect in ROS.

Balance, indeed.
