Man what a crap film Wifelike was. Man.
Yes, it was awful. I ended up watching most of it in FFWD just to get through it. It was bad bad.

Come back to the 80s as some high schoolers stumble upon a wax museum opening up in their small town. David Warner, who plays the owner, is incredible as he entices and beckons the high schoolers to explore his museum. The wax figures are so lifelike that one may fall prey to their story and come to find themselves enveloped altogether. Just a great movie that is very well done. The sequel is also worth checking out as it's a straight continuation of the story. 4/5 stars...Richleau says...check it out!

Kicking it off with a really cool creature feature, in theaters now, Beware Boiuna. There aren’t too many giant snake horror films. I mean, sure you have Anaconda, but that was forever ago. No disrespect to the JLo vehicle, but Beware Boiuna delivers on the suspense, tension and chaotic nature you’d expect from a killer snake film.
Boiuna is apparently from Brazilian folklore. It’s an ancient mythological snake working as like a protectorate of the balance of the Amazon. Really cool!
The main difference and the real reason this film works is the excellent character acting by the cast and what I think is the real crowning gem of a future scream queen in Kiana Madeira. She’s absolutely terrific. A real test for an actor as they put the poor girl through hell.
The suspense is masterfully built by Mike P. Nelson as he follows the Jaws blueprint of less is more when it comes to showcasing the creature.
This film really blew me away from start to finish and I think really delivered on everything you’d expect from a killer snake movie. 4/5 stars…Richleau says…check it out!

You should watch it. I love the franchise.
It just had some flaws that it didn’t need to have in my opinion. I loved Evil Dead Rise, but Burn sadly doesn’t compare favorably to Rise.

quote:I watched about the first 15 minutes of Evil Dead Burn a couple of nights ago. I was surfing the start of some horror movies, to find one for my wife and I to watch later, was impressed, and planned on starting it over again when my wife says she wants to watch a horror movie. If it's a dud other than the start, maybe we should watch Evil Dead Rise instead.
Great first 20 minutes though

I recently saw Sleepaway Camp for the first time. That ending.

I'll definitely check this one out once it hits streaming. Unfortunately, I don't get to theaters very often these days (or really care to, for that matter). So I wish it was available to stream on one of the services since it is Halloween season. But I guess I'll have to wait.

I watched that one a year or two ago, but was dreadfully bored with it. Plus, I already knew the ending beforehand, so it wasn't much of a shock obviously. That movie is absolutely awful though.

Watched Hell House LLC and Kill List in the last 3 or 4 days. Hell House was just boring to me. Not awful but just a lot of not much for minimal payoff at the end. Kill List was better but seemed like it didn’t know what it wanted to be. It felt like 3 different movies sort of shoved together. And holy shite are subtitles needed for the main characters.

If you don't like found footage, I understand the Hell House comments. The Hell House franchise has some weak entries, but some of the better scary scenes. The OG is considered one of the few scary horror movies of recent and one of the better FF movies.
The genre-bending on Kill List is intentional. The disorientation and disintegration helps build the psychological horror of the movie. This is why so many questions end up remaining at the end, as well. I was lucky to go into this one 100% blind (on OG Netflix

i thought the original Hell House was great. ditto The Houses October Built

The clowns are creepy as shite in HH. That’s all I got.
doesn’t seem like too many new horror movies have been listed from the last year. The more recent horror movie I always recommend is Haunt. Remember thinking it was pretty lame the first 20-30 minutes and then holy shite it takes off
And I really enjoyed The Deep House that was suggested here from a couple years ago. It was really original. It went for it and falls just short of being an incredible horror movie. Does a lot of great things though.
