also thought the anchor segments (Diet Phantasma) are all pretty stupid so far as well.
They don’t get better. Coochie Coochie coo was the only segment even remotely good.
Watched Good Boy a couple nights ago. The dog is so cute and awesome but I got bored with the story itself. Didn’t have a whole lot of substance to it. The dog is great though. Did some research on the breed and they are amazing animals.

They do not...I finished it last night. Man, VHS: Halloween is just as bad as the others IMO. Anthology horror short stories are right up my alley, but man does this franchise fall tremendously short for me. I've always felt like gory movies, solely for the sake of ridiculous gore, always feel cheap and lazy to me. Like instead of trying to make something scary of disturbing, it just goes into the realm of ridiculous and I can't take it seriously. And this VHS entry just felt like instead of actually trying and coming up with solid stories, they just said frick it and went overboard on the gore. And the movie was very stupid because of that IMO.
I guess it's back to avoiding any new VHS movies for a while again. Sucks.

Since it seems you have Shudder
Yes, just subscribed to AMC+/Shudder for the first time, so although I've been some Shudder Originals/exclusives via Hoopla (e.g., Terrified, Scare Me, Glorious, and The Beach House), I'm trying to catch up on some ones I have missed. So far on my list I have Dangerous Animals, Mad God, Daddy's Head, and Exhuma (along with The Medium and The Ugly Stepsister). Moloch looks interesting, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the rec!

Final Prayer is awesome, but found footage.
Agreed, this is a fantastic movie. One of the rare horror movies where the ending elevates it from "good" to "great." FF is hit or miss with me, but this one was definitively a hit. Other FF that I enjoyed are: the REC series, AASB, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, Grave Encounters, Deadstream, and Late Night with the Devil.
Thanks again!

The Conspiracy is the GOAT found footage
I'd also suggest the following:
Trollhunter (more of a horror-scifi-comedy but just a great movie)
The Sacrement (Ti West's version of Jim Jones)
You must check out the following if you haven't:
A Dark Song
Kill List
House of the Devil
Speak No Evil
When Evil Lurks

I have seen all of the movies on your list (except I skipped the American remake of Speak No Evil, so I've only seen the original) and agree that those are all excellent recommendations!

Deadstream was added to netflix today. Hopefully more people will see that now.

That’s a good one for sure.

The American remake has its moments, but the original is much better.

That's good to know, thanks!
Seems to be a theme with American remakes

The first season of The Exorcist series was great. I think you can find it on hulu. Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities on Netflix was pretty good too.

The Strain is really good.
Midnight Mass since you’ve seen the others they’ve done.
Kingdom is a great foreign zombie show

If we are talking the 2024 remake, this was not good. At all.

I’ll add a French TV horror show that scared the absolute piss out of me. Marianne. If you haven’t seen it yet, good, watch it now. It even has a dub if that’s what you’d like. Just a great one season scary show. It’s on Netflix.

Why would I be talking about that?

Well, since you didn't specify, it was worth clarifying. Most people also probably aren't aware there even is a Danish version. It wasn't particuarly good either, but much better than the garbage that was the McAvoy version.

I’m still mad at the obscene marketing for that film. They were showing the trailer like a year out and non stop until they finally released it. By the time it came out, folks were already burnt out. Plus, it’s a piece of shite remake lol.

PSA: Do not waste your time on that Jordan Peele movie HIM. It is straight ridiculous garbage. By far his worst effort and I’m not a huge fan of his to begin with. Only watched it because it was free on my buddy’s PLEX server.
