The score was great. The soundtrack was pretty good except for the part when Gary Glitter's "Rock N Roll" played (right after he kissed the midget & the scence switched to him dancing down the stairs). It was at a point where the audience needed an emotional break, but it just felt weird. I think its cause that song reminds me of Jock Jams.

It was an odd song choice. Especially with everything else that had been heard, I'm pretty sure someone talked em out of Baba O'Riley right there so they went with it to just flip the bird.

The masterpiece to me of it all was how it left me pondering just how real any of it was in the end. What was truth and what was just in his mind?

Once you learn the relationship with girl in the apartment down the hall was made up in his head, you have to wonder how much more of the story was just in his mind.

All the way until the final scene --- when he was being chased down the end of the hall. Was he really being chased? Almost looked like it he was chasing himself!

The entire movie is so open-ended, a technique which provides the most horrific recipe possible in the minds of the viewers.

The movie has a lot more dark humor than people are giving it credit for.

Like the scene where he drops the gun in front of the kids and then does the "Shhhh" thing, I bust out laughing loud as FK.

Everything that happens with the dwarf after the fat guy kill is straight up hilarious.

After he shoots the host and grabs the camera and does the signing off line "That's life!"

I laughed at all of that as did others in the theater. The people who didn't were likely too tense from the intensity of the movie to realize how funny all that shite was.

That might be one of the best representations of how someone descends into sadistic anarchy ever put on film.

I chuckled when Thomas Wayne pegged him in the face.

Nobody else was laughing in the theater, there were some great comedy moments despite the subject matter

Just got out... Phoenix will win an Oscar, but IMO the movie didn’t live up to the hype. Def a good movie, but an 8 min standing ovation at Cannes? Meh

8.75/10 in my book

But like others have said... Hard to tell what was real and what wasn’t. I knew the girl thing was in his head from the start, but what else was?

More slapstick, but I laughed hard AF when he walked straight in to the hospital sliding door after the detectives questioned him.

But yeah there were a lot of funny moments.

Him scaring the midget after stabbing that dude and then him not being able to reach the lock was pretty funny.

When the midget realized he couldn’t open the door, my heart dropped. I honestly though this is the moment the Joker fully turns. He was going to let him go, but now he’s going to realize he can’t leave any evidence and will kill him.

Nope...just a kiss on the head because the Joker doesn’t care who knows he’s a badass.

Oh, and the score was just as impressive as Joaquin’s performance. It was just massive. I just looked it up, and I’m sure it’s aready been mentioned in this thread, but the Icelandic woman behind it is the same one who scored hbo’s Chernobyl which was also an incredible score. Icelandic composers ftw.

Loved the score. Top notch along with Phoenix. And yea, if your looking for a bleak or dreary score sign her up

Outside the box thought here, David Letterman would have been great as Deniro's character. He would need to lose the Santa Claus beard though.

Saw it again yesterday, and noticed something strange; maybe I’m looking too far into it.

When he enters the neighbor’s apartment, he had just come in from a storm. It was dark outside, and he was soaking wet. But when she comes out and tells him to please leave, and that he dayghter’s aaleep in the other room, there’s a bright light (appears to be sunlight) shining in through one of the windows, while everything else in the apartment is dark (with the exception of the tv screen).

The sequence where he tells Murray that he’s horrible, and then shoots him, and his facial expressions both before and after, are all-time classic.

Yep, the one thing that that bothered me throughout the movie was that I kept thinking to myself, “There’s no way a good-looking woman like that would want anything to do with a guy like him. It’s totally unrealistic.” Then when it was revealed that it was all just fantasy, I was like aha, they got me... and I was relieved.

It's kind of obvious though. Thats the weakest part of his fantasies.

How could you not? From the first interaction in the elevator, then to where she just shows up at his door and knows his name and all of a sudden they are a couple... it was obvious it was a fantasy.

Are there any good screenshots of Arthur's notebook besides the one page I can find online?

Sadly, the theater here had the pages in Chinese even though the movie was in spoken english. I can't read Chinese near fast enough to decipher what was written down

Check around online for reviewer rips.

Otherwise wait for Christmas when it'll probably hit digital and disc.
